The Witcher 4 Team Talks 'Future Of The Franchise', Confirms 2028 Release Window

We've got our first release window for The Witcher 4! It's been announced today that the next entry in the beloved series is targeting a launch at some point in 2028, and that possibly means it could be arriving on the next Xbox console.

The news was announced as part of a Gamescom update by the Witcher team earlier today, promising that it will be "worth the wait" despite being multiple years away from release.

You'll find the bit about The Witcher 4 at the end of the following clip:

It's confirmed here that The Witcher 4 won't be making an appearance at Gamescom whatsoever, but The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Songs of the Past will have a big presence, including as part of Gamescom Opening Night Live on Tuesday.

They say they have a "lot of the expansion to show off" over the next few days, including via the special REDStreams that we mentioned as part of our Seven Big Showcases guide a few days ago.

So, look out for lots of footage of the next Witcher 3 expansion in the near future, which has a release window of 2027. It's a shame about The Witcher 4's lack of footage, but at least we have an idea of when it'll be with us now!
