The second one concerns the Xbox Wireless Headset (2024 version), and it's a bit more complicated. Basically, people on Windows 11 PCs will be getting loads of improvements for this including lower latency, better battery life, super wideband stereo voice and broadcast audio, available through newly-added support for Bluetooth LE Audio.
It's mentioned that Xbox console players can access a new firmware update for the Xbox Wireless Headset as of today as well, but the description suggests most of the improvements here are focused around Windows 11.
Xbox Wireless Headset Adds Bluetooth LE Audio
"Today, we’re excited to share a new firmware update for the latest Xbox Wireless Headset that adds Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) Audio support. This update, built in partnership with Windows, brings top-tier audio performance to the latest Windows devices. Bluetooth LE Audio goes beyond saving battery life, it makes your audio experience better."
"Lower latency: Enjoy high fidelity wireless audio with less latency than Bluetooth Classic audio, that stays perfectly in sync with what you see on-screen. Better battery life: Play longer between charges thanks to improved power efficiency. Super wideband stereo voice: Enjoy richer stereo sound, even while chatting with your squad. Broadcast audio: Shared audio (preview) on Windows 11 lets you share your game audio across multiple compatible Bluetooth accessories."
There's more information on this via the official Xbox Wire website if you're interested, including how to access these specific features on your Windows 11 PC (along with how to download the new console firmware update).
"Firmware update: Available now via the Xbox Accessories app on your console or Windows 11 device. Make sure you’re using the latest Xbox Wireless Headset (launched October 2024)."
Beyond this, the update talks about new Xbox Play Anywhere, Stream Your Own Game, Mouse & Keyboard and Xbox Retro Classics titles that have been added recently, all of which we'll be highlighting separately in the coming days. It also references the new Fallout Xbox controllers along with a new Fallout 76 Xbox dynamic background.
Not the biggest update, but some interesting stuff in here nonetheless.
