In case you've never heard of it, the Microsoft Rewards program is an amazing way of earning free 'points' that can be redeemed for gift cards, sweepstakes entries and donations, and they're given out very generously!
In fact, if you keep up with the rewards and maximise your earnings, you can easily afford enough for a free Xbox gift card every single month, or simply save up for a major upcoming release - or even an Xbox Series X!
So, with that in mind, we want to help you get started with Microsoft Rewards with this brief guide...
How Do I Sign Up For Microsoft Rewards?
Signing up for Microsoft Rewards is really simple. Log into your Microsoft account over at the official website (you can do this on Xbox.com as well), and then head over to the Microsoft Rewards page.
Here, you'll be able to get an overview of how many points you've earned so far, your current Microsoft Rewards 'level', your current streak length and much, much more. Now, you're ready to get started!
What Is A Microsoft Rewards 'Level'?
Your Microsoft Rewards 'Level' determines how many Microsoft Rewards Points you can earn, and how affordable Xbox Gift Cards will ultimately prove when you come to redeem them.
There are only two levels included as part of the program - the first is Level 1, which is what you'll start on, and you can earn and keep Level 2 status by reaching 500 Microsoft Rewards points each month.
"Level 2 members can earn five times more points on Bing.com, save up to 10% on rewards from Microsoft products and services, and get access to exclusive offers. Remember to check your Rewards page for current offers."
How Do I Earn Points With Microsoft Rewards?
You can earn hundreds of points per-day (3 points per-search) by using the Bing search engine with Microsoft Edge, either on a PC or laptop or via the Microsoft Bing app on Xbox consoles. In addition, extra points can be claimed by searching on a mobile device as well, and all of this adds up to thousands of points across a month.
Every day, the Microsoft Rewards dashboard allows you to complete various 'Daily Sets', which offer bonus points (around 30-60) for completing quizzes and polls. If you complete these consistently, you'll also get a 'streak' bonus.
Xbox Microsoft Rewards App
The Xbox Microsoft Rewards App is another great way to earn points. The Weekly Sets are similar to Daily Sets, challenging you to complete three Xbox tasks in order to collect points and start up a 'streak', while you can also get free points for looking at certain games on the Store and making purchases on upcoming titles.
Xbox Game Pass Quests
Xbox Game Pass Quests are refreshed every Tuesday, and allow you to complete daily, weekly and monthly Xbox related tasks in order to earn extra points. We have a guide about how to complete them here at Pure Xbox, and if you keep up with them, you can earn thousands of points from Quests alone.
Other Microsoft Rewards Bonuses
These are far from the only ways of earning points! Microsoft Rewards also gives out points via email, special punch cards, hidden weekly treasures and monthly bonus round challenges on Xbox, and much, much more!
Buying things off the Microsoft Store, such as Xbox games and accessories, is also a way of earning Microsoft Rewards points. You don't get very many points this way, but it still all adds up over time.
How Can I Redeem Microsoft Rewards Points For Xbox Gift Cards?
You can redeem your Microsoft Rewards Points for Xbox Gift Cards either on your console (via the Microsoft Rewards app) or on the official Microsoft Rewards website, and there are multiple options available.
The number of points required differs per-region, but in the UK, a £5 Xbox Gift Card can be as cheap as 5850 points, which you can easily acquire every month (if you want to) by consistently following the methods above.
Here are some current Xbox Gift Card (and Game Pass) prices for the UK specifically:
|Rewards||Level 1 Cost (UK)||Level 2 Cost (UK)|
|Xbox Gift Card (£5)||6,300||5,850|
|Xbox Gift Card (£10)||12,600||11,700|
|Xbox Live Gold (1 Month)||7,000||6,800|
|Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (1 Month)||14,000||12,000|
Alternatively, many Microsoft Rewards users often decide instead to stack up their points so they can buy something more expensive later down the line, and you can also spend those points on Game Pass subscriptions as well.
Keep in mind that if you do decide to redeem a gift card, you only have 90 days in which to spend it. Because of this, it might be best to hold onto your points until you find something you really want, or you risk those points expiring.
How Many Microsoft Rewards Points Can I Earn Per-Month?
According to BoulderCast and EyeTV on Reddit who have done the calculations for the US and UK respectively, you can expect to earn a maximum of around 11-12k points in the UK, and around 17-18k points in the US per-month.
