Re: Final Fantasy 16 Director Says He'd Like To See The Game On Xbox

Pabpictu

It is evident that the game has fallen far short of the expectations they had, I guess that as soon as possible they will bring it to all possible platforms.

Although at this point, and especially with the stacking of releases in this and next year, I don't think many players will play it on Xbox. Maybe if it comes to Gamepass at launch it will reach a lot of players, but I don't think that will happen.

Re: Poll: Are You Picking Up Star Wars Outlaws On Xbox This Month?

Pabpictu

I think it is advisable, with open world games especially, to wait a bit to play them, with the complexity that these titles have they always need a few patches until it's possible to play them without too many bugs.

So I'll wait for a discount, I may hopefully even be able to play it thanks to Gamepass.

Re: 1996's Original 'Broken Sword' Is Getting Remastered For Xbox This September

Pabpictu

It may sound weird, but right now this is the game I'm looking forward to the most.

It's one of the great games of my childhood, with a very worked novel narrative (nowadays it's difficult to see such worked narratives in videogames) and with an excellent art and puzzles.

I haven't played it for 20 years, and I really want to complete it again after such a long time.

The last game I bought at launch was Mass Effect Andromeda, since then I've only played Gamepass titles and bought in offers, but with this one I will “sin” again xD

Re: Xbox Teases 'More Than A Few Surprises' For This Week's Gamescom Livestreams

Pabpictu

@Murray As of today, the PC and console experience is very similar.

The PC has become simpler and more automated, and the console has become more complicated with installations and configurations.

There is still a difference, but over time I think it is inevitable that they will become indistinguishable, in fact I think that consoles in 10-20 years will no longer exist.

Re: Skyrim's Massive 'Skyblivion' Mod Looks Incredible, But It's Apparently Too Big For Xbox

Pabpictu

@FraserG Thank you for your sincerity. Unfortunately it happens in all the Xbox media I read, and it's sad, but I understand this is a business and you have to look for clicks and comments on the news.

Even so I will always enter news of games like Tales of Xilia or Broken Sword announced for Xbox, even if they don't have so much repercussion, they are the ones that generate excitement in readers like me.

Re: SEGA Confirms Partial Delisting For OG Sonic Generations On Xbox

Pabpictu

The same thing Rockstar did with GTA by releasing GTA Trilogy, or the same thing Ubisoft did with Beyond Good & Evil by releasing Beyond Good & Evil 20 Anniversay.

It's not something I like, but as long as those who bought the original still have it available for download I'm not going to complain.

Re: Microsoft Hiring Engineers To 'Define The Future Of Graphics' On Xbox

Pabpictu

At some point neural rendering will replace rasterization and there will be a revolution in how computer graphics are generated.

But for that I think we are still decades away, I would say that the breakthrough we are going to see in gaming hardware in the next few years is the massive arrival of AI to improve what we already do with rasterization.

Re: Xbox's Phil Spencer Seems Interested In Microsoft's New AI Upscaling Technology

Pabpictu

@NEStalgia I think the main difference is that Auto SR works at OS level, i.e. you can apply it to any game or application, even if it is very old. This can be very useful for backward compatibility with X360, which runs most games at 720p. Nvidia and AMD solutions require to be integrated into the game code.

Another interesting difference is that Auto SR works using the NPU, i.e. it has no cost to the GPU which can be fully dedicated to game performance.

Re: Microsoft's Mobile Gaming Store Is Being Tested Internally At Xbox

Pabpictu

It can be very interesting, there are two things that I am very excited about with this store:

The first is the possibility of seeing native Xbox games on mobile phones, this would give access to a much larger market than PC or all consoles combined.

The second is the possibility of seeing mobile games with Xbox achievements, like in the days of Windows Phone. For me it was a real incentive to play on mobile.

Re: Next Month, It'll Be Four Years Since Xbox Acquired Bethesda

Pabpictu

@Sol4ris We will have Prey and Dishonored sooner or later, they are very renowned sagas, especially Dishonored. Keep in mind that nowadays games require years of development, assuming that one is in the works, we may not see it announced for 2 or 3 years.

The Evil Within was a saga that had a complicated future commercially, there is not much sales data, but the first was moderately successful, and the second, at its beginning, sold considerably less than the first.

I don't know if we'll see Fallout New Vegas 2, but with the enormous popularity of the series I think we can be sure that we'll see a lot of Fallouts in the future, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Obsidian involved again

Re: Next Month, It'll Be Four Years Since Xbox Acquired Bethesda

Pabpictu

At that moment it was the "craziest" acquisition in the history of the industry, of course we couldn't imagine what awaited us with Activision.

If at the time when Xbox One was launched they told me that we would see Xbox join Bethesda and Activision, I would not have believed it.

Re: Talking Point: How Would You Feel If Xbox's Major Fall Release Is Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6?

Pabpictu

If we talk about commercial success, Call of Duty is going to be the great Xbox launch of every year, it is almost the great launch of every year for any platform. This will surely continue for many years as long as its commercial performance does not decrease.

From there it is a matter of taste, for me the big release this year was going to be Avowed, but it has been delayed, so maybe it will be Indy, or Flight Simulator, or Age of Mythology, or Towerborne, or Ara: History Untold, or even Hellblade 2, which although it is a fairly scripted and short game , it is very spectacular.

Re: Braid: Anniversary Edition 'Sold Like Dogs**t', Says Creator

Pabpictu

@Mustoe I think the problem has been created by the industry itself around consoles: games at very high prices, remakes, remasters, paid updates...

I don't see Gamepass as the cause, the problem is how abusive, expensive and saturated the industry is, Gamepass was born more as a solution to this, it allows us to play games that we otherwise would not have bought or played.

And the truth is that this Braid Anniversary Edition would have worked well in this service, but not because they have perpetuated us to this, but because it is a game that many of us have already played and that does not stand out too much among all the current releases.

Re: Microsoft CEO Reassures Investors That Xbox Is Focused On Console, PC And Mobile

Pabpictu

Activision and Xbox are now the same, I guess we can say they have "bought" their position there, but right now Xbox (or Microsoft Gaming if you prefer) as a business is much bigger and more lucrative than Nintendo or Sony.

In fact, Sony specifically is at a dangerous point, they have a significant amount of income, but not profits.

I imagine that Microsoft's plan will be to surpass Tencent and have the largest video game business in the world, but of course, they cannot do that only with the "small" game console business, they have to expand.

Re: Microsoft CEO Reassures Investors That Xbox Is Focused On Console, PC And Mobile

Pabpictu

I think you have a very distorted vision. Nadella has saved Microsoft, which after the Windows Phone era was in a very complicated situation, and he has turned it into the most valuable company in the world (well, now second after Nvidia).

Xbox probably wouldn't exist today if Nadella hadn't agreed with Phil Spencer to invest in the gaming division after Xbox One.

And we may dislike the recent decisions more or less, but Xbox is a monster that generates enormous profits, Sony or Nintendo have much worse results, it may be that in 10 or 20 years Playstation will not exist, no matter how much it sells hardware, as a business is much weaker.

As players there may be many decisions that we don't like (I'm the first), but really as a business Xbox couldn't be in better hands, in 20 years it will still be there, I don't know if as a cloud game or where we will play then, but it will still be there, thanks to all these decisions.

Re: GameStop Takes Jab At Xbox 360 Store Closure, Backfires Immediately

Pabpictu

Today physical games are "boot disks" that do not contain the full game or have a beta version that is often not playable.

Indeed, I fear that the physical format today does not serve to preserve video games.

The preservation of video games is in the hands of companies and their will to maintain backward compatibility. Fortunately in this aspect Xbox is doing much better than Sony or Nintendo, although not perfect, there are many OG Xbox and X360 games that have been lost forever.
