Good luck to them, there are only a few games I would pay day one prices Sony and Ubisoft are charging for their games, I waited for Demon Souls to go to 30 quid used as I wasn’t going to splash out 70 quid for it new.
I think this pricing is only going to benefit Microsoft with GamePass as it makes look like a fantastic deal and Nintendo as you can almost get two switch games for the price of a broken yet to be patched Ubisoft release.
This is a shame, the 360 games were such a nice little perk of the GamePass ultimate subscription as you got games to keep every month along with your all the other GamePass benefits.
I’ve been an on and off subscriber to gold for a few years as the PS4 and Switch were my main consoles last gen, I loved how you could keep the 360 games when your subscription lapsed.
I’ve recently gone back and played through some of my old game with gold games like Bayonetta (this was excellent). Some of the game we’ve gotten in recent months like Yokos island express have been pretty cool as well
I’m really happy with the selection of games available to play on Xbox atm but I’ve only really gotten into the platform recently so games like Halo and Forza have been new to me. I’ve really been making use of the excellent backwards comparability on the Series X recently and I’ve beaten games like Max Payne 1, I’m currently playing through Bayonetta which I bounced off on the WiiU.
At present I think Xbox has a nice mix of big 3rd party games, interesting indies like turnip boy commits tax evasion and tunic. The games with gold last month was really cool as well it’s kind of like a pinball MetroidVania. I’m loving the Series X atm, if there is one-two more exclusives this year I would be really happy. I still have hellblade 1 and the Psychonaughts series left to play as well.
Whelp, I guess I’m a rare breed I picked the game up physically on the Series X. The launch edition was really nice, it came with a badge, a poster and some art cards. While not as cool as a working designs RPG from the 90s it was still a lovely package and great value for less than 40 quid.
I think this is a bit of an uninspiring purchase to be honest, as someone who’s owned every PlayStation it doesn’t fill me with any excitement. I know games as a service are all the rage but I hope that Platform holders like Sony don’t begin to roll out endless lot box filled games. Compared to Bethesda and it’s IPs it also seems like an enormous amount to pay for a company with only 1-2 major IPs.
I’m not a big fan of this current acquisition merry go round, but at least Microsoft has bought more exciting companies and all the games will be coming to GamePass
I’ve always been a Sony and Nintendo guy, but the series X and game pass has seriously won me over to Xbox. I’ve found that things just work with Microsoft and I realised how worn down I had gotten over the years with Sonys endless system level jank.
I rarely turn on my PS5 tbh, and the Xbox has become my go to home console, supplemented by the switch and PC. With game pass and Microsoft rewards I’ve found that gaming is much cheaper on Xbox as well as Sony is set on gouging UK customers this gen. so I’ve been getting all of my third party games on Xbox.
It’s been really fun catching up on all the stuff I’ve missed out on like Halo 1 & 2. Forza horizon 5 was amazing also, I’m really looking forward to some new Xbox exclusives.
The series X is a great option for families on a budget or people unsure about the Xbox ecosystem. But I wouldn’t give up my series X for the world. I just hope Xbox continues to get Japanese games and JRPGs on the system as that’s what will keep me here. Being able to play dragon quest 11s on my pc and series X was definitely the biggest highlight of 2021 for me.
I already thought this had a next-gen update, I beat it last month and it played really well on the Series X, maybe it was just utilizing the extra power. Its not the greatest Souls like but it has the best story I've seen in years outside of the Mandalorian.
@pip_muzz I used a stock alert channel on Youtube to pick up mine it sets off a siren when they are in stock. Check out as a guest and use apple/google pay if you can as the retailers payment processor can get overloaded due to demand.
I've always been a Sony/Nintendo guy though I dipped my toe into the xbox ecosystem during the xbox one era. I think the Series X is amazing and I'm loving my time with it so far.
Gamepass is absolutely fantastic and I love that microsoft seems to have a fantastic relationship with Square Enix right now as I love their games. Microsoft appears to be going in the right direction so far, compared to the PS5 the Xbox Series X is easy to use and everything just seems to work. I think the Series X will probably become my Gamepass/third party machine apart from cheap physical copies on PS5.
