This weekend was going to be based around Hogwarts Legacy interspersed with Fire Emblem Engage battles. Then Metroid Prime shadow-dropped. Something (that isn't my wife or kid) has to give and that thing is Fire Emblem. Atomic first-world problems though, and what a great release window.
People seem to be getting incredibly agitated by this game. I am ambivalent about Rick and Morty - sometimes it really makes me laugh; sometimes it disappears up its own arse in a cloud of self-importance and pre-conceived memes. This is an (almost) functional shooter with a sense of humour you can either tolerate or not; but which seems to provoke review styles which are at best idiosyncratic, and at worst dismissive and potentially rude (not necessarily this one) about people that might enjoy it.
For my money, be it spent through Game Pass or not, I threw a few hours at it yesterday, and found it an enjoyable enough timesink. Massively rough around the edges, and a bit stingy with the upgrades, but a nice palate cleanser between sessions of Midnight Suns. There was certainly nothing within that provoked the extreme ire cast by some members of our increasingly grumpy community. Just my opinion, obviously.
Really happy with it. Everything is fast, smooth (for the most part), Game Pass suits my attention deficit perfectly, and the dashboard is intuitive. I suspect a lot of misgivings are that it isn't revolutionary and there are no true next-gen games to compensate for that, but in terms of a user experience it is a real pleasure to use and play on. Plus games don't cost £70, which is just ridiculous. I will buy a PS5 eventually, but I in no way regret choosing the Series X. And it can only get better.
OG Resident Evil on a borrowed (we were fairly skint when I was a kid) knackered Playstation. So knackered, in fact, that every time you opened a door, there was the distinct possibility the next section wouldn't load, and the Playstation spent most of its time upside-down or tilted at an angle because it worked better like that.
The dogs coming through the window made me damn near soil myself first time round though. Halcyon days (even if the REmake is better).
As others have alluded to, definitely Quick Resume. I didn't think I'd use it at all, and then I remembered how abysmal my attention span is. Been a brilliant addition to the OS, and allowed me to dip straight into Forza whenever the game I'm mainlining gets on my tits.
Aside from some irritating freezes, its been running really well on my Series X. The motorbikes still have the turning circle of a cross-channel ferry, but that isn't a performance issue.
I'm genuinely enjoying my time with it (or as much as I can with a newborn in the house). I second the comments about having games that stretch the kit to a next-gen level, but I really like the loading speed, interface and joypad refinements. Forza Horizon 4 really does looks special, and very much enjoying hammering Game Pass when I can.

Re: Talking Point: Have You Ever Bought An Xbox For One Specific Game?
I bought an Xbox One because Rise of the Tomb Raider was a timed exclusive. Yes, I am embarrassed.
Re: Talking Point: Is There An Xbox Classic You Wish Was Backwards Compatible?
Blur - beefcake drum and bass, Mario Kart with real cars and you can race Minis along Brighton seafront. What is not to like.

Re: Deadpool Teams Up With The Marvel's Midnight Suns Next Week
@MattWithoutFear That side is reasonably minimal. Do what they ask, skip the dialogue, reap the battle bonuses.

Re: Channel 4 Is Bringing Back The Classic UK Show GamesMaster
@Mr-Fuggles777 and repeatedly using the word "pants" to describe everything. Maybe they could get Dave Perry back for another challenge.
Re: Xbox Listing Suggests Immortals Fenyx Rising's First DLC Is Imminent
They’ve already dropped a sample mission from the DLC into the main game. No major deviations from the formula, but just as fun.
