Update: It appears the "Included with EA Play" part of this listing for Battlefield 2042 is a bug, as it's also been spotted on other recently released EA games such as GRID Legends. Nevertheless, we expect Battlefield 2042 to hit Xbox Game Pass Ultimate pretty soon, but maybe not before the likes of FIFA 22 and NHL 22 later this month.
Original story: Battlefield 2042 could be heading to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play pretty soon. Just like FIFA 22 last week, the Xbox store listing for 2042 now shows that all-familiar Game Pass tag, along with listing the game as being included with EA Play.
However, despite these changes, the game isn't ready to download just yet. If you try, you'll simply be shown your current subscriptions rather than the console beginning the Battlefield 2042 download. Bit of a bummer!
Even so, both FIFA and 2042 will be coming to EA Play and Game Pass Ultimate in the near future, so hopefully, these tags mean something at least. We'd expect FIFA 22 to appear first, as that one launched more than a month ahead of Battlefield 2042.
Season One for Battlefield 2042 is right around the corner though, with DICE aiming to deliver the game's first major content drop in early summer. Could this coincide with the Game Pass release? We'll find that one out real soon.

Wasn't BF 2042 gonna be free soon?
Dont really see the point unless the cost of adding is extremely low which could very well be the case. Game remains bad, low playerbase and not like xbox lacks available shooters in the service.
Only other thought would be to throw them a bone for relations down the road

@Rmg0731 It will be part of Ea Play, which is a part of GPU, so it's not a seperate deal.
Is just a bug, all EA games have the tag. Even Grid Legends that released 2 months ago and that isn't coming to gamepass that soon. The games that we can expect this month are NHL 22 and FIFA 22, BF 2042 in a couple of months and Grid by the end of the year.
@Rmg0731 The point would be to try and boost the player base so that the matches aren't so full of Bots and perhaps improve the match-making and the feel of the game too.
I know its not worth buying with the severe lack of content and no Single Player either. However, for 'free', some may try it and not feel so let down as they haven't got the same 'financial' investment into it and feel 'cheated' out of their money...
I've no interest in the game even when it will be in EA Play/GPU. They definitely screwed the pooch on this one. It's going to take a hell of a game to bring people back to the next one. Pushing out beta versions and then fixing them over time isn't the way forward. With all the issues folks have with Halo it's still the best shooter for my preference. Don't see myself going over to play BF in it's place.

Bro once I read here that bf4 is 120 fps that’s where all my attention went. I’ll be digging in after work and an episode or two of The Sopranos.

@FraserG yeah, Grid was the thing that made me believe is a bug 100%, I understand the confusion because FIFA having the tag it's normal because it should release this month along with NHL 22. Who knows at this point with BF, maybe EA wants to release it early so they can revive the servers. I'm pretty sure that Grid is not releasing this soon though.

bought thus turd of a game because I was led to believe this was going to be It.....well its not and its been deleted and sitting in my library of owned games I will not download or play

I think bringing BF2042 to game pass could give the game some new life or making it Free2play because as it sits right now I wouldn't ever consider purchasing this monstrosity which is sad because back in the day BF3, Bad Company 2 and BF4 was all I played and now there's a void for that type of shooter and it's a shame SMH 😑
