To be honest I got my Series X only for exclusives. I’d previously assumed that the vast majority of new titles would eventually be on PS5, and would be a case of being ‘free’ as part of Game Pass or full price on PlayStation, and that’s how Microsoft would market their offerings. Guessing someone somewhere with a better calculator than mine worked out that getting more people into the GP ecosystem was worth more than people on other systems paying full price for say CoD.
99% of my time is on PS5, but I got a Series X so I could play stuff like Starfield. Not massively bothered about 60FPS, so 30 is fine for me. Just wondered they don’t have an Unlocked option, so people can chose? Would this be possible?
Honestly can’t see why people get sniffy over this - if it’s not been announced for Xbox isn’t this the same as with Redfall and Starfield not being announced on PlayStation?
Can't deny the great value of Game Pass, but that aside wasn't a whole lot to excite me. Starfield looked a bit more like No Man's Skyrim than I was expecting, but I am keen to give this a go. The Kojima project is clearly some way off, and the Motorsport title looked good (more my thing than Horizon). Does this mean no 1st party releases in 2022? Or am I missing some? All in all, a mixed bag for me.
@lolwhatno it’s my very first Halo (Series X is my first Xbox) and I gave up on Infinite by the time I’d got to the planet surface. Love / Hate Returnal - too hard for my old reflexes.
@GamingFan4Lyf pretty sure we’ll see great-looking games on both / all platforms. Would imagine Sony’s input is more than merely financial - can’t see them doing this in order to try and limit UE5’s use elsewhere, given the nature of its eventual availability on pretty much every system.
Also have both PS5 and Series X - although I am more of a Sony person, having had every system of theirs (with the exception of Vita).
Not sure about public perception to be honest - most people that aren’t super into games will not really know / care what engine a game’s running on. Also, Microsoft are a lot more communicative with stuff than the usually private Sony (which is not to criticise them on this - despite not finding too many games to get excited about on GamePass as yet, really think Microsoft have the right approach in terms of engaging with the public)
@GamingFan4Lyf remember an article from last year where Epic said they’d worked for quite some time with Sony to develop UE5. I know they’ve also invested some serious money in the company. Think they have a closer relationship with them than you think.
@daveh30 same here. Not sure if it’s because I’ve not played a Halo game before but am not really enjoying this at all. Just made it to planet surface so maybe things will improve, but really nothing special (in my opinion) so far.
‘Smart’ delivery my sainted acorns. No updates showing as available through the Manage option, and if I try and access Campaign through the game it still comes up with the Pre-Order option.
Even the updates on my PS5 aren’t this convoluted.
EDIT - got it to download. This is my first Halo so maybe I’m missing something but the opening half hour or so is pretty unimpressive. Main character seemingly a bit of a charisma-vacuum. Wonder if I have to go back and play the others for context.
Barely played my Series X (besides Forza and a bit of COD). My PS5 gets used far more, and has more genuine reasons to play. Know things will even up in the next 12-18 months, but would be nice to get some good next-gen ‘engagement’.
Got Series X and a PS5. One has some awesome (albeit early) next-gen titles. The other has Game Pass and (currently) no killer next gen titles. Know this will change but throwing shade at a competitor that clearly has a different business model seems a bit weird.

@chicken_chaser I thought it looked like No Man's Skyrim

@Ihavenomouthandimust pretty sure Epic worked closely with Epic during the development of UE5, so I think they’ll be fine.
