Re: Microsoft Boss Highlights Why He's Feeling 'Very, Very Good' About Xbox Right Now

IOI

I mean, they wouldn’t say otherwise, wonder if he’ll feel as good as consumer spending drops dramatically with people dropping out Game Pass or Xbox altogether.

And he’ll feel even greater when their own storefront becomes irrelevant and they become dependent on Steam, PlayStation and Nintendo to be able to sell their software; exactly what happened when they fumbled Windows Phone and became dependent on Android and iOS to sell mobile software. Very, very good indeed.

Re: Xbox Is Reportedly Working On A 'Cross-Platform Interface' Called Project Rainway

IOI

@AverageGamer We should but ‘Play Anywhere’ is yet another project Microsoft never fully committed to, as not all Xbox Game Studios, nor Bethesda, nor Activision or Blizzard titles are ‘Play Anywhere’, only a very small selection.

They could reach an agreement with third-party devs like they’re doing to be able to play owned games on the Cloud, not sure how it’d work tho.

Re: Xbox Reporter Says That Microsoft 'Won't Have Exclusives Going Forward'

IOI

@TheEstablishment For me the problem isn’t that Xbox doesn’t have exclusives per se, but that the platform is becoming more and more irrelevant as developers choose to skip the platform, not even paid to do so, and with first-party games releasing elsewhere there’s just no point in getting an Xbox for the vast majority, and even if there is still a market for the platform, is it sustainable for MS to keep selling hardware as a loss (as has always been the console’s business model) if the user base keeps shrinking more and more? They will quickly realize it isn’t if their next hardware isn’t a hit and given their current strategy it seems impossible.

Re: Yes, The Outer Worlds 2 Is Another Xbox-Developed Game Heading To PS5

IOI

@Fiendish-Beaver Yup, this is the timeline we’re in and we just gotta accept it and cope with it.

For anyone who somehow still believes in Xbox lies just look back at Windows Phone and how it was slowly abandoned just after a big acquisition that was supposed to enable them to compete more, looking awfully similar to Xbox after the Activision buyout.

Re: Yes, The Outer Worlds 2 Is Another Xbox-Developed Game Heading To PS5

IOI

The Xbox spiral of death continues and seems to be nonstop, MS announced a first-party game to PlayStation but yet again many third-party announcements from last night will skip Xbox and there’s an ever growing list of games that are not and may never get to Xbox, exactly the thing I feared when the first batch of games was announced and it’ll only get worse.

Personally my spending on Xbox this year is an all-time low, haven’t bought a single game or subscription with my money (only Rewards points) and I’ve already started to move my library to PS5 to move away from Xbox entirely next generation, the way Microsoft handles things our digital library will end up stuck on a dead platform and I’m just tired of dealing with their flip-flops, also thinking about building a PC but one thing is certain, I won’t ever get Microsoft’s hardware ever again.

Re: Xbox's The Outer Worlds 2 Resurfaces, Coming To Game Pass In 2025

IOI

@K1LLEGAL It’s sad that after a decade trying to get this momentum they have just now decided to launch most if not all their games on competing platforms, and even worse, that Xbox still got noticeably less game announcements last night, they’re just porting everything over while getting less games from third-parties.

Re: Indiana Jones And The Great Circle Review Roundup: Here's What The Critics Think So Far

IOI

@LogicStrikesAgain Absolutely, I’m not saying it’s a universal rule, there’s some reviewers that for whatever reason didn’t enjoy the game like this site’s review, but there 100% is a general bias from a big chunk of media outlets that if whatever game is not available on PlayStation they hold the game to a higher scrutiny and it does result in lower aggregate score, I can bet you right now that in a few months when it does launch on PS5 that version will not score lower than 90.

If you really think that very obvious bias is a myth just take a look again at media outlets, specially bigger conglomerate ones.

Re: Stalker 2's Lower Review Scores Are 'Unfair & Misleading', Says Arkane Founder

IOI

I think it’s yet another example of the ‘Xbox tax’, yes the game has a few bugs but nowhere near CP2077 back at launch as some reviewers were saying, also they’re being very picky with the game itself complaining about even the smallest of things, I expect the very same thing to happen with Indiana Jones (might even score below 80) but when the PS5 version launches it’s gonna be “GOTY”.

Re: Xbox's Phil Spencer Confirms Handheld Plans, But Don't Expect One Anytime Soon

IOI

@Millionski No one said anything about Sony, I certainly have never said Sony is the "good guy", remove the tinfoil fanboy hat for a second and realize this has nothing to do with console wars, that's why it's so frustrating for me, with Xbox dropping the towel Sony has become more and more abusive but they still outsell Xbox by an ever growing margin, not because they're great, it's been the worst PS generation by far and yet people choose it because of MS´ incompetence to even name and market their own platforms, now they're giving up long term platform growth over a quick buck doing some ports, great for the gamers on the other consoles and for their financials, dreadful tho for the ones that have stuck with Xbox.

Re: Xbox's Phil Spencer Confirms Handheld Plans, But Don't Expect One Anytime Soon

IOI

@Millionski It’s not about console sales per se, but which games are available where, that’s what people care about and what compels both casuals and hardcore gamers into buying one platform or the other, Xbox already is the least important platform to develop for, some devs don’t even care to do a port, Sony can put their games on PC but their console still gets games from pretty much everyone including Microsoft, with that situation in mind why would anyone choose the Xbox over a PlayStation or PC?

If you want to continue to ignore the dwindling relevance of the platform and still invest on it it’s fine, Microsoft will happily take your money, I will not get rid of my Xbox but I’m not buying one single game on it ever again, will take advantage of the years of Game Pass I paid in advance and use my PS5 for most third-parties while I decide what to do next generation, but all roads lead to PC.

Re: Xbox's Phil Spencer Confirms Handheld Plans, But Don't Expect One Anytime Soon

IOI

@Millionski Weird thing, I have noticed the difference when I want to play FFXVI, The Last of Us, FFVII Rebirth, Stellar Blade, Spider-Man 2, Black Myth Wukong or other dozens of games on Xbox and I can’t, had to get them on my PS5.

A couple of games released on Xbox after half a decade doesn’t mean a big turnaround is happening and the platform is gaining relevance, I don’t see it, of the 30M current users they have they’ll keep losing them with their baffling decisions and terrible communication, and not because of ‘bitter fanboys’, why would any casual gamer (the ones that make up the most of console sales) get the one platform with less games available and no exclusives? Game Pass isn’t a system seller as this generation has proven. This will only result in less users, less sales, less relevance for the platform, less games available for it and so on, until it stops making financial sense for MS to sell a plastic box and our digital libraries just get stuck on a dead platform.

No one is saying this will happen tomorrow, next year or even next generation but we have several precedents with Microsoft, the one that’s looking very similar is Windows Phone that collapsed after investing billions on Nokia and MS mismanaged them to oblivion, now look all that’s happening with Xbox after the Activision buyout, terrifyingly similar.

Re: Xbox's Phil Spencer Confirms Handheld Plans, But Don't Expect One Anytime Soon

IOI

@Major_Player Him saying there’s no redline for Xbox games on PlayStation is him admitting every game will eventually be ported, which we’ve all discussed will lead to the platform being more and more irrelevant to the point it doesn’t make sense to have dedicated customer-focused hardware anymore.

This is the strategy Microsoft has stated time and time again this year, only now he finally was clear that EVERYTHING is on the table to port to PS5, which also makes crystal clear the inevitable doom for Xbox, there’s nothing made up about it, just facts stated by Microsoft themselves.

Re: Is Xbox Successful Right Now? Phil Spencer Shares His Thoughts

IOI

Lies of P yet again, if the business was so healthy we wouldn’t have seen studio closures, price increases across everything but specially Game Pass, tiering for the service which decreased the value of standard Game Pass, the porting of several games to more successful platforms and even announcing them as the next big thing.

Maybe all this has made their profit margins to increase by 1% and that’s good news for them even though they decimated the entire division, we can expect this amazing strategy to be followed in the upcoming years.

Re: Xbox Boss Says Everything Is On The Table When It Comes To PS5 Ports

IOI

Why every single time it feels the brand is going through a momentum they have to do or say something that completely ruins it!?

Xbox is dead and has no future, he basically just confirmed EVERYTHING will eventually go to all platforms, you can s**t on Don Matrick all you want but Phil was the one responsible for this generation and they’re doing even worse than with Xbox One, it’s gonna be yet another brand mismanaged to oblivion by Microsoft sooner rather than later.

Re: GTA Trilogy Gets A Major Surprise Update For Xbox Series X|S

IOI

@Dimey Bugs were squashed around 6 months after release, also performance mode is flawless at 60 FPS, this lightning makes the game look so much better very close to the originals.

I bought this at launch, even preordered it with MS Rewards but never completed any of them as it was so incredibly disappointing, nowadays I’ll definitely play them.

Re: PlayStation's Call Of Duty Timed Exclusivity Deal Is Now Officially Over

IOI

@Krazee5255 They won’t allow it because they sell software (games) as crazy, the Switch has sold 1.3 billion games and they make more money selling software than subscriptions.

Plus it’s now clear Game Pass is not a system seller, the service has been great and yet the Xbox platform has barely grown, GP on Switch will never ever happen, the cons will always outweigh the pros.

Re: Talking Point: What's Your Favourite Memory Of The Xbox Series X|S Generation So Far?

IOI

I’d say 2021 Holidays, previously that year we got Phsychonauts 2, Flight Simulator and all Bethesda on Game Pass, then we got a streak from Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite MP followed by the campaign and the Activision buyout announced a month later.

That was a pretty exciting time to be an Xbox user, almost 360 vibes I’d say, afterwards in 2022 they didn’t have a single game and the rest is history…

Re: Halo Infinite's New Third-Person Mode Seems To Be Going Down Well On Xbox

IOI

It’s sad that such a cool addition was made when the game is already dead, I’ve been trying to get back to it but 9 out of 10 matches have bots in either my team or the other and matchmaking just won’t get rid of them, people eventually start to leave and the match ends up in a couple of players against bots.

Re: Xbox's Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 To Get Official PS5 Pro Support This Week

IOI

@Wisegamer I understand, it all depends on your definition of "best", if you're looking for the best graphic fidelity in consoles the PS5 Pro will undoubtedly be the better experience at least until the next Xbox home console arrives, if you're looking for the best value there's no beating Xbox and Game Pass indeed.

In my case I'm still going to play Xbox games on Xbox since I got Game Pass until 2027, but I'm looking into buying most third-parties on PS5 now.
