@Romans12 To be fair, one of the devs who was on Giant Bomb @ night referred to it as a "souls-lite", more a mix of action rpg and souls games. I don't how much distinction there is between the two as I don't play soulsish games but makes me think of rogue-like and rogue-lite
Sorry to spoil your fun to the first three but I'm not in agreement. Halo Infinite is a great game and up there with some of the best Halo gameplay. The multiplayer did take way too long to get the content ball rolling which was their biggest mistake. I understand the money people didn't wait any longer as the game reportedly cost 500 million to make but hopefully going forward, they will be able to release when it is ready. It is not the early days of live service where you could release barebones and build up over time, there is simply too much competition now for people's time.
I was able to complete F.I.S.T. I had a great time with the game. Some of the platforming and combat encounters were a good challenge and there were a nice variety of environments. Glad I didn't miss this gem before it left. Funny enough, I did get it free on Epic Games but would rather play on Xbox when given the chance.
@Mustoe @Dampsponge I'm pretty confident I read you will still be able to download purchased content even after the servers go down. They are shutting down the marketplace but keeping that ability intact.
I've been playing pretty much just F.I.S.T. for a few days now and I think I'm nearing the end. It has been a very satisfying Search Action game and it can be very challenging at times. I'm glad I'm putting a focus this year on playing games that are leaving game pass as I've played some gems that I might otherwise let pass by.
@cardcrusher29 I believe the one year passed in February for Atomic Heart, so I guess that could mean 2 years at least. I played it in February based on it being on the Feb 23 Gamepass article on this site.
I'm going to check out F.I.S.T and Sword and Fairy. F.I.S.T looks doable to complete in two weeks, but Sword and Fairy might be too long. I started Story of Seasons awhile back. I might pick it up as it is on sale for 75% off for 1 more day. I also tried Stranded Deep awhile back but didn't grab me.
Last batch of leavers, I was able to complete High on Life, Bramble, and the Bookwalker.
I managed to complete High on Life, Bramble, and The Bookwalker in a week. It was a really enjoyable week of Game Pass Gaming! Now, hopefully the next batch leaving will be revealed tomorrow.
@The-Grezzly-Bear I finished Bookwalker yesterday and I enjoyed it quite a bit but I can also see how it won't be for everyone. I liked the concept of having the 3D apartment environment and then the isometric levels when you go inside the books. It was neat how you sometimes had to go outside of the book to get an item in the real world and brick it back into the book to get through some levels although I think they could have done more with that.
@everynowandben I just played through the game in the last week. The humor was very hit or miss with me, probably more misses than hits. A lot of the dialogue, especially for Kenny, almost seemed like it was improv'd with a lot of repeating the same words. There were some parts I found pretty funny like the dying teddy bear who asked you to stay with him and then multiple times when you walked away he would come back to life and call you out for leaving. In fact, they used that same kind of positional audio a lot like when you would walk away from an npc that was still talking, the dialogue would change. I also am a fan of JB Smoove who voiced Gus which I actually didn't realize until the credits rolled.
I agree with you, the weapons being useful for combat and exploring/environmental puzzles was very enjoyable. Overall, I had a good time with the game and glad I crossed the finish line before it left game pass.
I saw Balatro is on sale when I looked through them this morning. I just bought last week and I highly recommend if you like run based games and card games. I'm not even a huge poker player but Balatro is so satisfying to play.
@Darude84 I wouldn't let any review persuade you from trying it yourself. You may agree with the score after trying it, but you also may have a different opinion. I'm having a fun time with it so far.
I'll be working on High on Life and Bramble over next two weeks. I'll check out The Book walker as well. I started High on Life yesterday and am on the second bounty. Fun game so far.
Final Fantasy 14 as usual. The minecraft Realm I was on fell apart so I started a new single player world so will chip away at that in small bursts. I've been hooked on Slay the Spire the past week and bought Balatro yesterday so rotating runs on those two. Finally, will also play some Diablo 4 this weekend to continue working through Season 4.
I'm also awaiting the list of games leaving Gamepass for first half of June so all plans could change if there is something I want to jump on there.
@Banjo- I don't consider constructive criticism negativity. It is part of the process and the kind of feedback devs are looking for. Wading through the muck of negativity to find it can be like finding a needle in a haystack.
Some people have told me I am too easy to please and my response to them is yay for me. I can't imagine being the type of gamer that is always unsatisfied and has something to pick apart with every game. This seems like the majority of people who post on the internet on most of the sites I visit. I have happily enjoyed many games that have received lower scores and am able to accept their flaws and appreciate what they do well. So yay for me that I can find enjoyment from flawed products. My tastes in gaming cover every genre and type of game and I go into every game with an open mind.
There is a place for a game like Hellblade and it should be made as it is quite a unique experience. I started the first one for the first time last night, played for a couple hours after beating the first boss and had a great time. I enjoyed the story of the norse mythology that the stones provide, I enjoyed the trippy visuals from the blurred vision and the environmental puzzles with doorways. The sound design is amazing. It must really be disheartening as a dev to have your game ripped apart because it wasn't perfect, or mainstream enough, and deal with all the negativity online. I have a long time friend who unfriended me from every platform recently as I told him that I'm tired of all the negativity all the time as he was always complaining about something, bashing devs, or always pushing negative news articles at me and I told him that it seems like he loves negativity. I'll miss having him as a friend but I'm not into gaming for the negativity, I'm here for enjoying gaming warts and all.
@Savage_Joe The reason would be that you like Xbox. I would also be happy if the rumor that the next xbox will not only play your xbox library natively but also will sideload Steam/Epic games is true. I have a Pc that I play games on but it is getting old so this would be right up my alley. I think Microsoft will both sell games everywhere but also keep the Xbox ecosystem for fans of the platform. Sure, the console won't be in contention to be the biggest but it will be there for fans of Xbox while they also are making lots of money everywhere else. A win-win for everyone.
I'm playing Norco before it leaves Gamepass. I'm currently on Act 2. Love the pixel art and the story is interesting. I'll also be playing some FF14. I still haven't tried Eastern Exorcist yet for the games leaving gamepass so if I finish Norco that will be this weekend otherwise next week.
Update: I just finished Norco. This game really gripped me, the story was so strange and outlandish but also at times grounded in reality. The pixel art was simply amazing to me. I'm so glad I chose tackle this before it left Gamepass. There is still time to play and finish this before the 16th if you like narrative point and click games and pixel art. It's like a 5 hourish game according to how long to beat.
@Ricky-Spanish Would you really expect those at an Indie games showcase though? I could be wrong but I really think they are saving that news for the June show where they can get the most exposure on it. I get peoples frustration but this is a logical conclusion to me.
@NEStalgia There is a setting you should enable that will add another 16 abilities and switching to them is easy. It is in Hotbar settings then Custom then Expanded Hold Controls. Basically, you choose which cross hotbar left and right you want to map then you access it by holding left trigger then right trigger and it will switch to that hotbar and then also hold right trigger then left trigger will switch to the other one. When you let go it will switch back to your normal hotbar, it is a game changer. There is even an additional setting they added where you can choose another set of hotbars to access when doing the same thing but double tapping the trigger.
Awesome wave 2 for me! I'm interested in all of these except NHL. Never got around to trying the games leaving, other than 7 days to die and lootriver for a couple hours each, gonna check out Ravenlok, Pikuniku, and Lootriver some more. Just finished Homestead Arcana which I loved and started Loop Hero past couple days which is awesome!
