@themightyant those bridge levels are actually harder in the remastered game, it was a mistake that the developers acknowledged(yet didn’t fix…). I got up to 99 lives for the first one just from grinding the level for the green gem and it took me like 60 lives to get through. On the bridge level on the last island I actually just decided to stop playing.
I almost certainly didn’t even die close to 60 times playing Elden Ring for comparison. Maybe like 20-30. I died 22 times complete Returnal + the third act.
@Millionski OK, good for you lad. The only point I was making was that your 3 was way off. If Sony publish 5+ games every year I would be very happy as they tend to make some of the best games of the year.
@Millionski if we're talking strictly published games, then that's already 6. Although I actually forgot Sony published Midnight Murder Club, so it's actually 7.
@Millionski you're counting 3 remasters/remakes (2 of those are even developed by third party studios and are remasters of games MS had no involvement or ownership of at the time of development). Gears of War is a remaster of the Xbox One remake and only a marginal improvement, that's like calling Days Gone Remastered a new game.
@Rog-X Of course, if you don’t own the labour it’s third party, even if you work with the development team for 5 years and fully fund the development, even in the game is built on an Engine that Sony owns(DS2). However, if you buy an existing game series, put your name on the box and give zero aid in the development with nothing then that’s a legitimate first party game.
Given that, your maths is still wrong. Also, I’m pretty sure that 8 MS number includes games made by third parties like Oblivion Remaster and Ninja Gaiden 4.
1st party output this year is 8 (confirmed) games from MS and only 2 from Sony (thats counting DS2 which is another topic).
Sony have already released one game(MLB the Show 25) and 4 games have release dates in the next 4 months(Ghost of Yotei, Death Stranding 2, Marathon, Lost Soul Aside)
@Cakefish I’m pretty sure they just want primary steam users on their hardware so they can bombard them with advertising for the Xbox store and gamepass.
@Ricky-Spanish There’s no form, just a DoB and email and then a confirmation email. No account linking or even asking on which device you intend to play.
I think this is a subtle way of telling people they’re working on new projects and not in danger of getting shutdown, so don’t worry. After all, Hellblade 2 appeared to do significantly worse than Hi-Fi Rush.
Death Stranding 2, MGS Delta, and Ghost of Yotei (and potentially Silksong) are otherwise the only games I’m for sure playing if I can’t find a Switch 2 at the moment
What exactly are all these Switch 2 games that apparently represents 90% of your hopes? Mario Kart and a Donkey Kong game?
How does that compare to the launch week for games like Hellblade 2 and Hi-Fi Rush? I noticed the steam player counts are significantly worse than both of those games.
Nobody's ever pressured us, or offered to pay us, or anything like that to score their games higher. We just score them how we feel.
I do 100% believe you but it is also a little bit awkward that the game is currently plastered across the top of this article in a large paid ad and is the most advertised product across the entire Hookshot range.
@JayJ I Don’t think you understand what this deal actually is. The new division is a subsidiary of Ubisoft. That subsidiary sold 25% of its shares to Tencent. It’s still owned by Ubisoft.
@themightyant The path to Leadership in gaming Slide that leaked(the one with the Gamepass projections/targets that goes up to 2030) had a starting point at the beginning of FY2023 in which Gamepass Subs were over 80% “Console First”. This was presumably the real numbers at the point the projections were made. I couldn’t say how it’s changed from then but I would say that a 30% increase on a small number is still a pretty small number. For example if that’s 5m to 6.5m it’s not a major change.
As for consoles the last official split we had from the FTC leak 75% Series S, 25% Series X but that was data as of early 2022
The Circana monthly reports for the US now give a breakdown for Series X. For the last year it’s mostly been around 60% Series X if I recall correctly.
This is a very strong showing, the Indies really started to dry up on Gamepass but I suspect a lot of that had to do with MS making deals very early on and a lot of those games suffering long delays.
33 Immortals sounds brilliant, Need to go count how many friends i can scrape together though…(I’m pretty sure it doesn’t actually work like that)
@freddones The team that made the first Dragon Age would have been under 50 people I’d guess and most wouldn’t be doing any significant programming I,e. writers, artists, QA, Producers etc.
John Elper was a cinematic designer on Origins so would have been working directly within the engine. I’m surprised there’s even as many as 20 people that worked directly with the engine still around.

Why not? Switch third party sales are still pretty low but every little helps.

No, they’re not going to block their games from Xbox branded Windows handhelds. That would be pretty ludicrous honestly.

If you factor out the 4 week vs. 5 week period difference then the numbers are:
PS5 -22.5%
Xbox -37.5%
Switch -41.25%
Which is not quite as bad.
