@S1ayeR74 it’s the rug pull. When MS bought these studios, everyone thought it was to make their exclusive offerings more competitive.

Now that we’re seeing the fruits of these studios, they’re all multi-platform. It’s a bait and switch.

It’s fine, don’t get me wrong. I just wish MS was upfront on their strategy from the get go.

Sad to see outer worlds 2 is multi-platform.

Xbox had everyone excited 4 years ago when they bought these devs and it was all for a multi-platform rug pull

Think about it:

Say the ABK deal was blocked... Would Indiana Jones and Doom the Dark Ages have been Xbox/PC exclusives?

Maybe.

Would Tango Gameworks have been dissolved? Maybe.

Would Xbox have more budget to put into Game Pass and internal game production without a massive ABK deal going through?

Possibly.

All of this makes me think that we're living in the dark timeline. Should Sony/FTC have won their fight to block the deal? Maybe.

With all of these updates, I'm sure this "generational" game will be an 8/10 one day

Carrie Patel was the lead narrative designer for Outer Worlds. This is her first game, but when she says things like "Giving players things to dig into, that's what makes it meaningful roleplay"

Craig Duncan's Rare has developed 2 games in 6 years (0 since 2020).

Mark Gordon's Treyarch has released 4 games in that same timeframe (6 if you count the zombies mode they wholly developed for other CoDs).

But sure–Hire Craig. Great decision. He's exactly what XGS needs.

The deal went to trial because the FTC claimed that ABK would give xbox a monopoly on the games industry.

Low and behold – That deal is exactly why Playstation will have a monopoly before long.

The deal was too large. It drilled a hole through Xbox. Now, Xbox is dying and MS is going third party to drive short-term revenue at the cost of the brand.

Just wait until the next gen, MS. When no one buys the nextbox, your carbon footprint will be virtually zero.

Everything's coming to PS5 eventually

Seeing as now Holiday 2024 is stacked with COD, STALKER 2, Indy and a slew of more niche exclusives, I get it.

I really like the "series" naming scheme. That said, they should have named the xbox one consoles family under the "series" moniker instead. Having "one" and "series" console families makes everything too confusing

@Blaa Same. I've started Sonic Frontiers too. 60 fps. While there is pop-in, there's pop-in on every version of the game

Not to mention they've entered into a partnership with Toys for Bob, we haven't seen anything Everwild or Project Mara, and Xbox got another dozen or so studios with the ABK deal. Who knows what they can show!

Makes sense. We have no idea what Double Fine, Arkane Lyon, Beenox (assuming they're not on CoD watch again), and 343 have been cooking.

Sea of Theives dropping in the middle of a Playstation content drought was perfect timing.

As much as I would LOVE to see some real games, my dream reveal is for Xbox to have their smaller studios leverage their IPs to create smaller games that, wouldn't you know it, release ON TIME

It's gotta be a reboot of our beloved Tak and the Power of Juju series.

Anyone play Immortals on Series S? I heard it was horrendous at launch but that was over a year ago. I hope they've patched it up

@GuyinPA75 I hear ya, but that's what has gotten me into xbox! I can't afford modern gaming (skrimping n' saving to pay off a mortgage), but I got a refurbished Series S on sale for $190 usd and subcribe to Game Pass off and on when I want to play a game. It's great!

Ok here's my question:

Is the Sekiro IP now owned by Microsoft? I'd love to buy it next time it's on sale, but if it's coming to game pass later this year I'll wait.

I just don't know if from software owns the IP or not.

Largely 8s and 9s across the board. Maybe the occasional 6-7 or, on the other end of the spectrum, perfect 10.

It won't have a metacritic score below 80, but it won't get above a 90. Let's hover around an 87 to be safe.

The games? Solid. The commentary? Flat.

@OnlyGaming I was thinking the same thing. Starfield is less cheeky than Fallout, but they could still make it entertaining

Kind of niche, but I want to be able to upload my old games and original save files to digital.

I would totally jump back into fable 1 if I could pick up from my original save file.

I have a Series S and Switch. I'm honestly SO excited for this game! I loved the first one, and am excited to see this story continue.

I don't need cutting edge graphics, just give me consistency. I don't need 4k resolutions or 60 fps, but please provide 1080p and 30 fps

I remember seeing this game during xbox's 2022 showcase and thinking:

"Wow! I can't wait to play this and STALKER 2 soon!!" Funny how that works. Still looking forward to this

After seeing Exoprimal, the RE games, and Monster Hunter all coming to game pass in the past year or so - It wouldn't surprise if this makes its way to the service in 2025. I can wait until then

@PsBoxSwitchOwner You and everyone else seem to be thinking of the studio and not the IP.

Say MS buys the dev studio + the rights to Palworld - If Palworld can really rock their 1.0 release and have Microsoft handle merch, they could recoup a multi-million dollar investment within a year or two.

That is some insane earning potential!

Can't wait to play this a year and a half after it launches!

@NarutosBiggestFan Depends on the game. Fight Night Champion? Ready 2 Rumble? Punchout? Classics.

Super hero games need to be seen as RPGs. People buy spider man games to be spider man for a day. People buy arkham games to be batman for a day.

In this game, you could swap out any suicide squad member with anyone else - Harley Quinn w/Cat Woman, Deadshot w/Redhood, King Shark w/Lobo, and Boomerang w/Peacemaker - it wouldn't change anything outside of a few soundbites.

As cringey as it is to say, this game doesn't make you "feel" like any member from the suicide squad.

I'm pretty confident that they will reiterate their commitment to xbox, announce that some of their games will be coming to other platforms, and shadow drop Hi-Fi Rush on switch/ps5.

I'd also bet that they announce the departure of Phil Spencer from xbox and announce their all-digital xbox series pro console... but those are more conspiratorial than anything

@Dimey I hear you, I do. That said, we’re all on an Xbox focused gaming site. It’s meant to be niche and fun! What’s pointed and valuable to you might not fit the Pure Xbox branding.
