Yesterday, IGN released some extended gameplay footage from Forza Horizon 6 as part of its 'IGN First' coverage for the month of March, and while it did a decent job at showing us Playground Games' rendition of open-world Japan, the video immediately came under fire for looking 'empty' and devoid of traffic. Thankfully, just as we suspected, this was done on purpose and isn't indicative of the final game.
Indeed, IGN's Ryan McCaffrey has taken to social media to tell folks that "the traffic was intentionally tuned down here in order to focus more on the environment/world of Japan". McCaffrey went on to say that "the full game will have more cars driving around" when it releases in May 2026.
We feel like this is a classic case of expectations not living up to what was ultimately shown off; in hindsight, perhaps the outlet should have labelled this differently to avoid confusion around it being 'extended gameplay'. We always had faith that Playground wouldn't let us down here — especially given what's been shown already — and it looks as though that faith was well-placed in the end.
Anyway, we'll include this footage down below to give you an idea of Ryan's explanation, and here's hoping that IGN First for March gives us some more Forza Horizon 6 gameplay that's a better representation of what folks will be playing in just a few months' time.
