Deep Silver and Warhorse Studios have announced that Kingdom Come: Deliverance is getting a free current-gen upgrade on Xbox Series X|S - and it's out today as the title rolls out on Xbox Game Pass.

Yep, we brought the news earlier on that KCD was part today's Xbox Game Pass refresh, and now players using Xbox Series X and S consoles can experience the game "with the level of performance and fidelity the story deserves".

Here's some more information on the new Kingdom Come: Deliverance update, straight from the team:

"As part of the Kingdom Come: Deliverance II anniversary celebrations and as a reward to fans of the franchise, existing PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners will be upgraded for FREE in an update available from today to help them rediscover Henry’s saga from the start!

Witness the rise of a young Henry from his very first chapter with the level of performance and fidelity the story deserves. Players can now explore Bohemia at up to 60FPS, making everything from the intense combat to a simple gallop through the woods feel even more responsive. Console players also now have enhanced visual fidelity and graphical features for a smoother experience, ensuring the world of Bohemia is as immersive, vibrant and as crisp as possible."

This free upgrade was first mooted last month when the PlayStation Store listing for the game mentioned new current-gen features - and that's indeed come to fruition as Kingdom Come: Deliverance now supports higher resolutions and frame rates, alongside "enhanced visual fidelity and graphical features for a smoother experience".

Finally, as part of today's reveal, Warhorse Studios notes that "the collectors among us" will have the chance to snag this newly-spruced up version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance when a physical version of it launches on May 15th, 2026.
