I guess that’s the price of a limited edition — it’s not every day Xbox turns 25, after all. And it’s barely more expensive than the standard version since the latest price increase

They should bring that console on tour around the place pubs clubs and sell it as a comedy act because that price is literally comical!!
In a normal world that would be £400 tops this far into the generation!
This is definitely the start of the end of home consoles as we know it if the prices don't go back to normal soon!

That's a ridiculous price for a video game console.

I would have said the usual thing: for that price, you could build a good PC that’s far superior to any console. But of course, that’s not really true anymore, building a good PC is also ridiculously expensive.

So, I guess we just have to accept that we live in a ridiculous world, where this hobby has become irrationally hostile toward its players.

@fatpunkslim If I could look past the fact I "only" paid $500 for the same hardware specs 5+ years ago, I could get behind "barely more than current prices." You're not wrong, but... did RAM-ageddon really jack prices almost double?

Or they could revert back to less powerful systems like switch and switch 2.
Switch 2 will sell not just because it’s Nintendo but the other consoles are getting to expensive.

So the expected UK price will be about £799.99. that's £10 more than a 2TB PS5 pro and not worth it even for a big Xbox fan like myself.

@AI-Generation Or just double down on streaming services I mean even the series s which is pretty much the same power as the switch 2 is ridiculously expensive right now!
I'm blessed I picked up my consoles when I did for the price I did!

If i can get my hands on it I might buy one, keep it in the box and hope it goes up in value over the years as a collectors piece. Might be worth taking the risk.

@CallMeDuraSouka Also I'd become paranoid about the dust build up over time with the console considering you can see right into it haha.
The fact they can charge hundreds extra for what really is a different colour plastic for the console and controller is just stupid in my opinion aswell but these companies are being allowed to shaft us like this🤕

@TDHorizon It will probably be worth double ina a couple years time anyways the way things are going.

@Mr-Cage Ive just seen on Ebay an Xbox 360 Halo version sealed sold in June for £3000 and an Xbox One Halo 5 bundle for about £1200 also in June.

So I think that may have to be the plan!

@TDHorizon If you have the funds I'd say go for it buddy I'd be very shocked if it wasn't an investment you could at least double your money on eventually!

@AI-Generation funny you say that as I was thinking I'd actually love a new 8 or 64 bit system from Nintendo.

I know they don't have the resources to support it alongside Switch 2 but if they did the games would be quicker and cheaper to make and we might end up with Mario 64 2 or Ocarina 2 for example!

@Mr-Cage The one I'm kicking myself on is the PS version of the PG Tips controller. They were sold for £150 and my friend bought one as he loves tea and I was toying with the idea. And already they are selling around £2-3k for completely sealed versions. Nothing I can do about it now!
