Free Play Days: Try These Xbox Games For Free (January 22-25)

In the midst of all the Xbox Developer Direct news on Thursday, we didn't get a chance to tell you about this week's Xbox Free Play Days games — and there's too much good stuff here for you to miss out on!

Four games are technically included with Xbox Free Play Days this week, and they're all well worth playing. Sherlock Holmes Chapter One is a game we gave 6/10 to in our Pure Xbox review, South Park: Snow Day! is a fun brawler that you could easily complete in four days, This War of Mine: Final Cut is a critically-acclaimed survival game that's also discounted to just $1.99 right now, and Cult of the Lamb is a personal favourite of Xbox boss Phil Spencer!

All of these games are free to play on Xbox consoles for Xbox Game Pass Essential, Premium and Ultimate members from January 22nd to late on January 25th. There are no time limits for any of them.

If you fancy keeping any of them permanently, we've already mentioned about that incredible $1.99 deal for This War of Mine: Final Cut, while the other three are also heavily reduced — the most expensive game is South Park for $13.49.

But wait! There's also a secret fifth game for Xbox Free Play Days this week, as Ubisoft has made Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora free to play on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S from January 23rd to January 26th. We're already seeing an "install" button on the game's Xbox Store page, and it's even playable through Xbox Cloud Gaming as well.

"The free trial is available from January 23 to January 26 on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S and Ubisoft Connect for PC. Play from the start of the game for up to five hours, or until you reach the Hometree in The Aranahe Clan main quest. The free trial is only available in single-player mode. Co-op is available in the full experience of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Your progression from the free trial will carry over so you can continue your adventure!"

  1. Search for the game on the Xbox Store
  2. Hit the "Install, Included with Game Pass" or "Free Trial" button
  3. Play the game!
