You may have seen some chatter surrounding GTA 6 over the past few hours, and that's because Take-Two appeared to allude to its potential release window as part of an earnings call that took place last night.
In the call, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick explained that the company is expecting a major year in fiscal 2025, which begins as soon as April 2024. The plan is for "several groundbreaking titles" to "set new standards in our industry":
"Looking ahead, fiscal 2025 is a highly anticipated year for our company. For the last several years, we've been preparing our business to release an incredibly robust pipeline of projects that we believe will take our company to even greater levels of success.
In fiscal 2025, we expect to enter this new era by launching several groundbreaking titles that we believe will set new standards in our industry and enable us to achieve over $8 billion in net bookings and over $1 billion in adjusted unrestricted operating cash flow. We expect to sustain this momentum by delivering even higher levels of operating results in fiscal 2026 and beyond."
Obviously we don't know what these games are just yet, but everyone seems to be coming to the conclusion that GTA 6 must be one of them. It's certainly a possibility... that means we could be playing it as soon as next year!
That said, we think it's probably best to keep expectations low and focus on a 2025 launch, especially considering we haven't seen anything of the game so far aside from some early leaks. The game is clearly on the way in the not too distant future, but the chance of us getting it in 2024 seems a little overly optimistic to us right now.
