One of the highlights of the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase in June was the reveal of The Outer Worlds 2.
According to Obsidian's hilarious trailer, at that point in time, the development team hadn't finished the game's design, story or "finished any gameplay" that was actually ready to show... the only thing that had been completed was the game's title.
While it seems like The Outer Worlds 2 is still a while away, a recent tweet by Obsidian studio design director, Josh Sawyer, has got some fans thinking it could show up sooner than expected. In a comment about the recent games he had been playing, Sawyer listed The Outer Worlds 2, alongside Avowed and his own game.
At the very least, this tweet seems to confirm the game is in a playable state. Oh, and so is that other project Sawyer is working on. Whenever the sequel to The Outer Worlds does arrive, it's expected to run on Unreal Engine 5.
As for the open-world fantasy RPG Avowed, it will reportedly be released at some point in 2023, but right now there's been no official confirmation of this.
Are you looking forward to The Outer Worlds 2? How about Avowed and that other game? Tell us down below.

Don’t forget Avowed. 😌
It still amazes me how Obsidian is able to work on so many projects at the same time. They're truly an exceptional developer.
So many games! Go go Xbox!
If remember correctly, cyberpunk was rumored to be in a "fully playable state" at one point. Hopefully there's a lot of polishing and shining going on.
It's not like they have to start from scratch - I am sure there are LOTS of assets that can carry over and who knows what may have been prototyped and/or cut from the original and its DLC's....
It wouldn't be too hard to imagine they already had a LOT of ideas of where things would go too. In other words, they had a LOT left over and a strong idea of what they would need to do to get a game up and running with many of the assets, animations, etc carrying over.
I bet they knew they could make a sequel too as soon as all the Paperwork was signed over to MS because MS said they will support Devs to make the games they want and they definitely wouldn't say 'no' to to both a Financial and Critical success!
Therefore it wouldn't surprise me if they are a bit further along than just an 'idea' as the trailer made out...
If they want a fun idea, use the SSD's to have working teleporters. Instantly teleporting (loading) into a new area in a way fitting the sci-fi theme....
Anyway, I'll be ready when it is but until then, there is a lot of other new releases (as well as my backlog) to keep me entertained - I'm not concerned when, I'm OK knowing it's coming along with many, many others
I really need to get around to playing Outer Worlds
More interested in what Josh 'Director of Pillars and New Vegas' Sawyer's game is like.
I really hope they keep the length of the first one. We have plenty of extremely long RPGs, this was the perfect t length for me.
I still haven't played the first game, so they can take their time.
