One of the highlights of the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase in June was the reveal of The Outer Worlds 2.

According to Obsidian's hilarious trailer, at that point in time, the development team hadn't finished the game's design, story or "finished any gameplay" that was actually ready to show... the only thing that had been completed was the game's title.

While it seems like The Outer Worlds 2 is still a while away, a recent tweet by Obsidian studio design director, Josh Sawyer, has got some fans thinking it could show up sooner than expected. In a comment about the recent games he had been playing, Sawyer listed The Outer Worlds 2, alongside Avowed and his own game.

At the very least, this tweet seems to confirm the game is in a playable state. Oh, and so is that other project Sawyer is working on. Whenever the sequel to The Outer Worlds does arrive, it's expected to run on Unreal Engine 5.

As for the open-world fantasy RPG Avowed, it will reportedly be released at some point in 2023, but right now there's been no official confirmation of this.
