'Xbox Developer Direct' Event Date, Start Time & Where To Watch

It's almost time for Xbox's first ever 'Developer Direct' livestream! Yep, Microsoft is about to deliver deep dives into some of Xbox and Bethesda's biggest upcoming titles, in a brand-new event format for 2023.

Here's everything you need to know about the Xbox Developer Direct January 2023 event.

What Can We Expect From Xbox Developer Direct?

Well, this is a tough one! As it's a brand-new show format for Xbox, we're not entirely sure what to expect in terms of delivery and how the show will flow from moment to moment.

However, Xbox has been pretty clear on what games will be shown off here. Expect to see brand-new footage on Forza Motorsport, Redfall, Minecraft Legends and The Elder Scrolls Online, including some potential release date info for some of these titles.

We're also hoping for another Xbox Game Pass drop, as the month ahead is looking pretty dry right now. Xbox hasn't said whether the subscription service will have a major presence here, but they'll need to reveal more Xbox Game Pass titles at some point in the near future!

Xbox Developer Direct Start Time

The Xbox Developer Direct event has a start time of 12pm PT / 3pm ET / 8pm GMT on January 25th.

Xbox has confirmed that the show will last for around 43 minutes, with a separate The Elder Scrolls Online showcase taking place right after the Developer Direct wraps up.

Where To Watch Xbox's Developer Direct Event

Both Xbox and Bethesda will be hosting the showcase across all of your typical video channels.

I am from Dallas Texas, i currently live in Austin Texas, i say that as Arkane is from Austin and i know of a few people that work there. Not even close to well enough for them to give me any insider tips as to what they do for the company. I say that to say i want to support this game and play it as it’s a hometown game. I can’t yet tell if it’s something i would really enjoy or not. I like the graphics and settings, no clue about story and gameplay. I also have a friend of my wife’s that is on her 2nd interview to work at Retro studios own by Nintendo, here in Austin. They make Metroid Prime. 100% supporting that when and if it ever comes out. Redfall has my full attention and i really want to like the game. Not to mention Xbox needs all the good games they can get, so i am pulling for this one in all phases.

Can't wait to see Motorsport. Really hope they show us a race and what the AI is like. My only gripe with previous entries is that the AI loves to play bumper cars, Id love to see some clean close racing.

Watching it to see if Redfall garners any interest in me. No interest in the other three titles. Really hoping there’s more to this than a deep dive on four titles and that’s it.

Can't say I'm fussed by any of these games but I'm pleased with some transparency. Plus, there's a decent variety of genres on show here.

I would honestly appreciate if all live service games like Sea of Thieves and ESO are relegated to their own independent streams organized by respective studios. ESO has been a thing in every Microsoft event for as long as I remember. The room needs to be given to new titles and titles that are more anticipated than yet another content season of a live service game.

@teknium_ The next big expansion. For a while now, I hear the game has become extremely solo friendly and these expansions come with what are basically mini-Elder Scroll games. Right now I'm playing Skyrim, yet again, and I am very tempted to go play ESO just for the story. The thought of exploring, in modern gaming qualities, regions like Elsweyr (first Elder Scrolls game region) and Morrowind, sound extremely exciting to me right now, and whatever they show for the next content expansion might be the final thing to push me into trying out the game.

There are also rumors about cross-play (right now each platform is isolated) but who knows.

Reaching far here, but would be also cool if the older expansions were added to game pass. Buying the latest expansion always gives you access to the older ones (I think) so keeping the newer expansion off game pass might be enough to not mess with monetization.

Hope they do that thing at the end like sometimes Nintendo and Sony do.
You think it is over and they go one last thing.
Great 5 minutes Gameplay of Hellblade 2 or avowed then releasing fall 2023.
We need that sort of buzz.

You know me loved the game on the N64 especially as each difficulty setting gave an extra level at the end to play.
But out with the old and in with new please and big AAA 😂

@Dezzy70 I don’t get the obsession with Goldeneye. It was amazing for its day but it’s aged so badly. It seems like a niche release.

@teknium_ ESO usually announces their plans for the year around now in a Dev stream. This looks to have been rolled into this event instead.

For the past few years they have given details of the traditional year long story arc.

They have stated they are stepping away from that this year to do something different that involves "a highly requested feature".

Been lots of speculation but no one knows as yet. As long as it's not something silly like last year's card game which I thought was a waste of time personally but I guess we will find out soon (tm).
