We've got a massive release coming our way on Xbox this week! Crimson Desert is officially bringing its open-world action adventure game to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S along with a bunch of other platforms, and based on what we've seen pre-release, it looks like it's going to prove extremely popular.

If you haven't been following it, this from the team behind Black Desert (Pearl Abyss), and we recently highlighted a bunch of Crimson Desert previews that highlighted how extremely ambitious and vast the game is:

So, with Crimson Desert releasing this week, we thought we'd break down all the key release date and release time details you need to know, along with the potential download size before it gets formally revealed in the coming days.

Let's take a look:

Crimson Desert: Xbox Release Date

Crimson Desert launches for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on March 19th, 2026.

Crimson Desert: Xbox Release Times

Crimson Desert has a release time of 3pm PT / 6pm ET / 10pm GMT on March 19th. However, there are a few places in the world where the game releases on March 20th, such as Japan at 7am and Australia at 9am.

Crimson Desert: Xbox Download Size

The official Xbox download size for Crimson Desert will be revealed when the preload begins late on March 17th, as referenced in the above image. However, it's already been rumoured that we're looking at a potential download size of over 100GB on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

A couple of Xbox fans claimed to see a figure of 113GB being mentioned on the Xbox Store before it was quickly removed, while the PC version on Steam mentions that it requires up to 150GB of available space - so it's likely going to fall somewhere between 100GB and 150GB on Xbox. Better get deleting a game or two!

We'll update this guide when the final and official download size is revealed on the Xbox Store.

Will Crimson Desert Be On Xbox One?

Crimson Desert will not be downloadable on Xbox One as it's just too intensive for the console to handle. It's very much a current-gen game that you can only access on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, along with PS5 and PC.

There's a chance it may be added to Xbox's 'Stream Your Own Game' service, in which case you could use a strong internet connection to stream Crimson Desert to your Xbox One instead, but the game hasn't been announced for this yet. Keep an eye out for updates — it may end up getting added to 'Stream Your Own Game' shortly after release.

Is Crimson Desert On Xbox Game Pass? Does It Support Xbox Play Anywhere?

Crimson Desert is not on Xbox Game Pass at launch, and the developers have not indicated any plans to bring it to the service. There's a chance it could happen in the future, but it's anyone's guess about if and when it'll be added.

However, the game is part of Xbox Play Anywhere, which means that if you buy Crimson Desert on your Xbox console, you'll also get the PC version for free via the Xbox PC app. There are no catches with this — it's the full PC version, but keep in mind that it's a demanding game and you'll need a suitable enough gaming PC to run it.

There we go, then! We'll obviously have a lot more Crimson Desert coverage to share with you this week, including reviews when they drop (which should be just before launch), so stay tuned for more details soon.

If you're wondering about gameplay footage for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S versions, there's no word on exactly when we'll be getting it just yet, but rest assured we'll be on the lookout and share it with you ASAP.
