@Banjo- I played and best Last of Us Part II in a week so I could review it for a now defunct gaming website and it was one of the most painful experiences with a video game that I ever played. Total slogfest, especially towards the end. One of the first times I totally ended up hating a character that I played and the story pacing was not only fatally flawed but the last part was completely unnecessary.

There was so much potential for the game to be a masterpiece but Naughty Dog screwed it up so badly it isn't funny. I could rant for days about how rotten this game was and how it deserved none of the accolades it got. The ending? It was a glorified "#$@& You!" to those who played. I paid $20 for it and I felt I got ripped off, what does that tell you?

At least this game did it right, giving you multiple endings that you could get after beating the game for the first time. Plus, the canon ending, established and confirmed thanks to the existence of Fatal Frame 3, ended up making sense in the end. I loved the two Wii exclusive endings though. One was bittersweet and the other was a total mind#@$&. I am sure they'll be included in this version.

@Banjo- Tormented souls is great. Old school horror game with modern graphics. I recommend it. There is a demo of part 2 on xbox I think so you could try.
I've been waiting for SH2 remake since it was announced but can't see it coming to xbox. Maybe soon...
I'm in the middle of Cronos right now, SH f coming out soon and still Project Zero to play 🥴 I'm not sure if I my nerves can handle that 😅

@Todd_G I'm sure that the upcoming remake will have the Wii exclusive endings. I think that they are using that version as the base. I'm excited about what will come next. It might be Fatal Frame Remake and then Fatal Frame III Remake; that is, a trilogy of remakes on top of the two available remasters and then, hopefully, Fatal Frame VI.

@DeadSpace Right! There's a lot of horror coming! I'm a bit worried about Resident Evil Requiem launching in February, so I don't know if they will release the new Fatal Frame in January, March or later. Anyway, now games have legs unlike years ago, because most sales are digital. I think that Silent Hill F, that has been compared to Fatal Frame before and launches this month, might actually benefit Fatal Frame, because of those comparisons.

I'll download that demo. By the way, I also have all the Dead Space games on Xbox, but still haven't played any, except Extraction on Wii. I want to play the classics before the remake, that looks awesome.

@Banjo- f is being released in 10 days. Looks weird. Hopefully will be good so Konami keeps the franchise alive.
You can play the remake of DS instead of classic. Looks better and is almost the same as original. Second one is very good too and it didn't get old much. Still looks and works fantastic. Remaster of 2nd one would be enough in my opinion.
Yeah, I forgot about RE in febeuary. So many horrors. Heart attack!

@DeadSpace oh trust me, Silent Hill is so back and not going anywhere. Bloober Team already confirmed they're remaking Silent Hill 1 now, it'll be interesting to see what they do to update that game to modern standards. They did a fantastic job with Silent Hill 2 remake and they seem determined to become better than that. So I have good faith that remake is going to kick serious ass. It's great that Konami themselves is trying to right the ship after screwing so many over. However, I think one of the things they really need to do is give Hideo Kojima a formal apology.

@Todd_G I have yet to play the SH 2 remake. How does it compare to the original SH 2?

I know a lot of people gave Bloober Team a hard time in the past because the combat and stories in their games were always lacking, but I see huge potential there. Being that the story was already done for them and SH was never known for great combat, I thought they were a good choice to do that remake. Hopefully their SH 2 remake gives them the boost of confidence they needed to do some incredible games.

@Todd_G yeah, finally Konami is back with what they had best. It's just about time! I wish they remade Shadow of Memories. That would be great and glad SH is back!!! Any news when the remake comes to xsx?
P.s. I'm not a fan of Kojima :/

@EvilSilentFrame they did a great job with the remake I heard. Lots of people doubted if they could do it but apparently they did. Read a lot of good reviews about the game and how Bloober preserved the atmosphere of the original. Looking forward to play it!
And it already gave them the boost. Cronos was released few days ago and it's a good game inspired by Dead Space mostly but you can also feel SH and RE in it. Very stressful game though 😅

@DeadSpace I’m going to have to give Cronos a shot when things slow down. Been super busy with work, kids, and personal life. I’ve heard good things about Cronos. It didn’t look like my kind of game, but I am really curious about it as a few people have already mentioned it to me. However, when Crimson Butterfly comes out, I will be making time for myself then. Everything else will have to wait.

@EvilSilentFrame can attest, Bloober Team nailed the landing with the SH2 remake, and they are now finding their footing with Cronos. They've come into their own, one of the producers even said they're determined not to make crappy games anymore and they want to prove they have the chops to stand on their own. As for Kojima? I am a fan of his works. Metal Gear Solid 3 in particular is a total masterpiece of a game.

@DeadSpace yes, you definitely need to give the SH2 remake a shot. It's excellent. Bloober Team listened to feedback and also it was remade under the watchful eye of one of the producers of the original. I'm absolutely going to recommend it for sure. If you can find a copy? Go snag it. From what I heard, Silent Hill f also nails it and it has a very Fatal Frame-y atmosphere.

@Todd_G it’s crazy to think how many studios struggle to get a game out and Bloober Team seems to be pumping a game out a year. I’m glad to hear they are finally finding their footing. When people were giving them a hard time, I used to remind people that they were a young team but there was something there. It just needed to be polished up a bit.

As soon as SH 2 remake is available for Xbox I’m getting it. That’s another one of my favorite games of all time. Truly one of the creepiest games ever. The visuals were so disturbing, the music was eerie, the story made you want to find out what’s going to happen next. The story wasn’t as intricate as FF. It was more straightforward and to the point. The year exclusivity ends next month. Hoping to hear something soon, but with SH F (which I’m so looking forward to playing) basically here, I can’t imagine them releasing it along side that game. It could hurt sales.

@Todd_G I read SH f gets great reviews. It looks weird to me but I'm definitely going to play it. I like it's set in Japan. SH2 is 🔥
@EvilSilentFrame I'm glad Bloober had a chance to do the remake of such a classic. It's was honour for sure and the big test they passed AAA+ When I played Medium I could definitely sense the SH vibe. They started with those walking sims but now the gameplay is more complex. I play Cronos right now and it's a good game.

DeadSpace

EvilSilentFrame

@DeadSpace I did play “The Meduim” and it definitely had SH vibes. While playing it, I couldn’t help but think of SH the entire time. Then Bloober was the one announced to do the SH 2 remake and so many online were upset over it. They didn’t like that Bloober doesn’t do a good job with a story. In this case, the story was already done for them. They just had to copy what was already done. There was also pushback on Bloober due to their past games having terrible combat or no combat. SH was never known for having great combat. I had a good feeling with Bloober being behind the remake. Glad to see they are remaking the first one.

@EvilSilentFrame to be honest - it was super satisfying reading all the sh*t about bloober not being good enough for that remake, that the animations look terrible, that they didn't know how to implement combat into the games (in fact they used to do walking simulators mostly) and then BOOM 💥 - most of the people agreed they were wrong and there was lots of praise about how good the remake is because they treated the original with respect etc. I play Cronos all the morning today and the further you get the better it becomes. The progress is satisfying the story is good, lots of good inspirations. I recommend it.

DeadSpace

Todd_G

@DeadSpace here's the thing with that, originally Bloober Team had a reputation for making awful games and they didn't seem to have a proper direction to go in. That's why people were upset when they found out who the development team was. With Silent Hill 2? Bloober Team showed gameplay footage in order to garner feedback and they actually listened to the fans when they offered critique. They were determined to get it right, that's for sure. After that, they wanted to show that they have what it takes to make a great game and from what I heard, Cronos is a damn good one. I'm sure so long as they have good producers supervising things, Bloober Team will be a force to be reckoned with.

Banjo-

@Todd_G Have you played the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 (Delta) yet? I played it on 3DS back in the day, with the Circle Pad Pro. Boy, the frame rate.

@DeadSpace

So many horrors. Heart attack!

🤣

I'm not a fan of Kojima :/

I'm not a fan of Kojima either. I think that the best part of his games are the parts he didn't actually make, like the programming and the graphics of V that are perfect considering it's a 2015 game. The story is... weird, but what I don't really like is that he needed to put his name on screen 30 times during the opening section. I don't know exactly what happened between Konami and him, but I don't think he's easy to deal with. Konami credited him in the remake of 3, but he posted that he was not going to play it. I will.

@EvilSilentFrame Those are exactly my thoughts about Bloober after playing Layers of Fears 1 & 2 and The Medium, but I'll get Silent Hill 2 Remake when it comes to Xbox because the story was already done and they did a good job with that one technically. @Deadspace The remake of Silent Hill 2 launched on 8th October last year, so you can expect an announcement after that day this year.

@EvilSilentFrame @Deadspace I'm a bit curious about Cronos, but I'm going to prioritise Fatal Frame II Crimson Butterfly Remake to support the series. I'll pre-order, even if I don't play it on launch day. By the way, it's already in my Wish List on Xbox and whenever I check it, I can't believe it's there. I don't know, how do you feel about it @EvilSilentFrame? It's like a dream.

After that, I'll check the next Resident Evil game, although I still haven't played 4 Remake. I'll get Silent Hill F as well and Silent Hill 2 Remake when is available on Xbox.

@Banjo- I played one of the Layers of Fear games. It was okay — the atmosphere and graphics were strong, but the gameplay and story felt weak. Still, I wasn’t disappointed since I could see the potential back then. Later, when I played The Medium, I saw even more promise — definite Silent Hill vibes. I’m glad to see their more recent projects doing well.

The SH 2 exclusivity ending coming on October 8th has me puzzled. I would’ve expected an announcement right after, or even a shadow drop. But with SH F releasing next week, I think they’ll stagger the timing on Xbox a bit more.

If Crimson Butterfly gets a physical release, I’ll be buying it twice — digital on Xbox (since I doubt there’ll be a physical copy there) and physical on Switch. This is a series I’ll always support, and it’s amazing to see it continuing when at one point it looked like the franchise was over. Yes, this really does feel like a dream.

I also finally got around to RE4 Remake. Honestly, I wasn’t excited for it. I was more frustrated they chose to remake 4 instead of other, more deserving entries. RE4 Remake was good, but the original still holds up, and it was never one of my favorites anyway. For me, it lost a lot of its horror feel by moving away from zombies. I get that franchises have to evolve, but I’d much rather have seen Code Veronica, Zero, or even the first game remade before tackling 4.

@EvilSilentFrame I agree. The first Resident Evil remake still is my favourite Resident Evil game and I honestly think it's the best in the whole series because of the presentation, atmosphere, design and sound. Gameplay is brilliant as well, because it feels like you're really surviving, with ammunition and ink ribbons quite limited, so strategy is very important as well. I never use all of that because of strategy and that's also satisfying. That and 0 should be remade faithfully with upgraded visuals. The remasters of the remake zoom in to produce the 16:9 aspect ratio, so even though they look great, there's a lot of things that can be updated. Code Veronica has a fascinating story, so I think it would be my second favourite. It shines in Resident Evil The Darkside Chronicles. Being the oldest now and with such a great story, Code Veronica is another Resident Evil that should be remade right now.

There is new footage with the director of Fatal Frame 2 remake talking about it at the Xbox Tokyo game show. I’m sure Pure Xbox will cover it eventually but if anybody wanted to see it, it’s early on in the show which is currently live at the moment.

I mentioned earlier that there was some new footage of the game shown during a live showcase. Now the clip has been posted separately, so you don’t have to scrub through the entire event to find it.

This is my first time posting a link here, so I hope it works! Here’s the video of the director of Fatal Frame Remake sharing some details, along with the new footage:
