I imagine that this generation will end up much like the PS2/XBOX/GCN. I doubt the X1 and Wii U will do quite as badly as their predecessors, but I can't imagine Sony not dominating between the price point and the hardware quality.
I actually quite like the PS4 design. It's the best looking Playstation device in my opinion. I also like the Xbox One design, but I feel like it is a little too boxy.
I'm wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft pushed a subscription model like what they have done with the $99 Xbox 360. Assuming it is the same $15 a month for two years, the system would end up costing $660, which Microsoft would be glad to sell. As for a $500 base price, that makes me worried. If the Xbox, with reportedly lesser specs that the PS4 costs that much, what hope is there for a $400 PS4 SKU?
The fact that they still haven't denied the console being always online is disheartening to me. I read this statement as when they announce the console having always online drm, they will "communicate directly" why that isn't a bad thing.
Nothing is confirmed yet, but I feel that all signs point to yes at this point.
I'm still interested in the Next Xbox until they officially announce that it requires a constant internet connection. Doing so would be brand suicide in my opinion.
also, when did Kinectaku make the change to purexbox? I'll be sure to check in from time to time
