Idk Kong graphics look pretty good for an OG Xbox game. Always glad to see them add more of those to BC program.
It’s not up to the level of the best looking games on that system like Conker or HL2 or Ninja Gaiden. And obviously graphics have improved and are on a whole other level now in 2024 but the HD is nice at least.
Did they ever fix the messed up audio on the first game? I had never played it before and figured HD on my projector with nice speakers was gonna make it worth waiting 20 years but when I went to play it I could barely hear the dialogue over the music during the opening cutscenes.
Looking online I saw that it was a known issue that people were waiting for a fix for. And I also found out then that it was based off the PC version and the classic graphics setting is missing some graphical flourishes that the Xbox original had. So I hope they fixed all that or at least the audio since it really detracts from the experience.
And frankly after deciding to just play the original version on my OG Xbox and finding the experience much more pleasant I wish they would have just added 1 and 2 to backward compatibility and let us play them that way.
Someone needs to let Microsoft know there’s 25 million Original Xbox’s out in the world. That’s 25 million potential Gamepass subs if they do what needs to be done and give the owners of those consoles a way to access xCloud and experience next gen gaming on hardware they already paid Microsoft good money for.
Obviously I’m kidding but I also will not be shocked, and will be happy, when some enterprising individual somehow gets it working on the OG Xbox. There probably are fundamental technical reasons why it can’t work but I wanted to put the idea out into the world in case the right person hadn’t thought of it yet.
