Re: 'We'll Start To See Radically Different Business Models' - Xbox Boss Talks Future Of Consoles

That’s ironic. Microsoft is one of the companies causing the component shortage causing the crisis, with their push into AI and data centres.
But I guess for Asha to admit her company is one of the players that caused the crisis she’s grappling with is too much honesty, and we can’t have honesty. I mean who knows what could happen if someone was honest; something sinister, surely.

Re: Xbox Announces Price Reductions For Game Pass Ultimate & PC Game Pass

@ILuvGames yes of course it depends on personal value, but I’m talking generally, most people can’t afford that. The majority of Netflix subscribers are not on that ultimate tier, but the ad supported tier, or next one up. The difference there is the content they have access to is almost identical on Netflix between the tiers, but not so on gamepass.
To be affordable to people generally, it needs to get lower in price to something people can afford. While disrespecting console owners, it’s not an accident the PC sub is cheaper than console.

It’s still more expensive than before and too high to be worth it. They are making it seem like a better deal since they reduced it from 34$ dollars to 26$ CAD. Before the most recent increase, it was around 22$ I think. 26$ a month is such an expensive monthly subscription still.
And all these prices are before tax - add 12% tax to all those prices.

It has to at least get to 20$ a month to be considered maybe a good deal, and even that is quite expensive for a subscription. 16-18 is where they really need to get to.
If they removed all the Fortnite stuff, that should bring it down more.

Re: Xbox Reveals New Details On 'Project Helix' Next-Gen Console, Says Devs Will Get It In 2027

White_oyster

I don’t have a windows computer so a console that can play Steam games would be fantastic. I barely use my Series X since Gamepass became almost 40$ a month Canadian - but a console like this where I can avoid fighting with Windows on a PC sounds great to me. But if the price rumours are true, I won’t be able to justify the cost and will stick to PlayStation and Nintendo.

Re: Microsoft Says It's 'Incorrect' That Xbox Division Is Now Targeting 30% Profit Margins

White_oyster

I really miss having Game Pass, it gave me so much enjoyment, but I’m not able to spend almost 40$ CAN a month. They sent me an offer for a dollar for one month (or something like that) to get me back, and then the 40$ a month after a month. That kind of offer is not going to work. They will need to make gamepass affordable again. At the price it is now, it’s better for me to buy more games I have forever.
But I’m assuming enough people still subscribe to it to make it work out for them, since they aren’t changing course.

Re: Paramount Fights Back Against Netflix With 'Superior All-Cash Offer' For Warner Bros.

The world could be saved and poverty eliminated with that kind of money, they should spend it on that. Oh wait, I forgot that the life of businesses and companies are more valuable than the health of the planet and all the life on it. Silly me for forgetting. Billions of dollars should absolutely go to large companies — saving the planet and mankind would be such a silly thing to spend money on.

Re: Xbox President Talks Positive & Resistant Feedback From Fans, How It's Shaping The Future

Really? I thought their new goal was to alienate and drive everyone away from Xbox. That’s what they did to me. I didn’t want to, but I had to cancel gamepass. The price in Canada is totally insane now and not affordable. There is no consistency and stability anymore with the brand either, which makes it risky to invest in. It’s really sad because the Series X is fantastic. But their handling of the brand is all over the place. It seems safer to get the games I want on PlayStation. And Valve hardware is becoming very interesting, and has consistent messaging and staying power.

Re: Indiana Jones Dev: Xbox Game Pass Was A 'Hard Balance' Because Players Quickly Drop Out

This is horrifying. The tv streaming mentality is now being applied to games because of gamepass. This is a disaster for everyone.
The last thing we need is the type of metric Netflix uses to cancel or renew shows, being applied to games. I love gamepass as a consumer, but if this is the road developers are going down, having to design games specifically to do well in gamepass metrics, I wish gamepass never existed.
