That’s ironic. Microsoft is one of the companies causing the component shortage causing the crisis, with their push into AI and data centres. But I guess for Asha to admit her company is one of the players that caused the crisis she’s grappling with is too much honesty, and we can’t have honesty. I mean who knows what could happen if someone was honest; something sinister, surely.
@ILuvGames yes of course it depends on personal value, but I’m talking generally, most people can’t afford that. The majority of Netflix subscribers are not on that ultimate tier, but the ad supported tier, or next one up. The difference there is the content they have access to is almost identical on Netflix between the tiers, but not so on gamepass. To be affordable to people generally, it needs to get lower in price to something people can afford. While disrespecting console owners, it’s not an accident the PC sub is cheaper than console.
This comment I’m leaving, I love with all my heart. It is the most inportant comment of my entire life and I’ll never say or do anything in my life that is as important as this, lovely, brilliant, and meaningful phrase. I hope everyone has as much joy reading it, as I did writing it, with my blood, sweat, and tears. Thanks so much to all my fans, I love you all dearly. And thank you for your patience, as I hand crafted this comment over the last 4 years.
For my province, after tax that still comes to 29.11$. Way too expensive. Better than the almost 40$ it was before, though. Ug I miss having gamepass but I can’t pay these prices. An act of good faith would be at least bringing the price back to what it was before this crazy price increase, but they still snuck in a price increase.
It’s still more expensive than before and too high to be worth it. They are making it seem like a better deal since they reduced it from 34$ dollars to 26$ CAD. Before the most recent increase, it was around 22$ I think. 26$ a month is such an expensive monthly subscription still. And all these prices are before tax - add 12% tax to all those prices.
It has to at least get to 20$ a month to be considered maybe a good deal, and even that is quite expensive for a subscription. 16-18 is where they really need to get to. If they removed all the Fortnite stuff, that should bring it down more.
It’s nice they are coming to Canada, as usually nothing comes here, except it’s across the country from me. But it still is cheaper to travel there than subscribe to gamepass 😂
Oh wow I hadn’t even heard about this game! I really like the series (though before the storm bored me to tears and I didn’t finish it). Overall though, I love these games. I’ll have to look this one up!
@fatpunkslim Man I really hope she rethinks gamepass. I really miss having it but I’m not paying 40.00 CAD a month for it. If she makes it affordable and a good value again, I’d be so happy.
I don’t have a windows computer so a console that can play Steam games would be fantastic. I barely use my Series X since Gamepass became almost 40$ a month Canadian - but a console like this where I can avoid fighting with Windows on a PC sounds great to me. But if the price rumours are true, I won’t be able to justify the cost and will stick to PlayStation and Nintendo.
I don’t think Ubisoft has understood the assignment. They have already made the same mistake they did before and they just announced the restructuring.
I really miss having Game Pass, it gave me so much enjoyment, but I’m not able to spend almost 40$ CAN a month. They sent me an offer for a dollar for one month (or something like that) to get me back, and then the 40$ a month after a month. That kind of offer is not going to work. They will need to make gamepass affordable again. At the price it is now, it’s better for me to buy more games I have forever. But I’m assuming enough people still subscribe to it to make it work out for them, since they aren’t changing course.
The world could be saved and poverty eliminated with that kind of money, they should spend it on that. Oh wait, I forgot that the life of businesses and companies are more valuable than the health of the planet and all the life on it. Silly me for forgetting. Billions of dollars should absolutely go to large companies — saving the planet and mankind would be such a silly thing to spend money on.
Really? I thought their new goal was to alienate and drive everyone away from Xbox. That’s what they did to me. I didn’t want to, but I had to cancel gamepass. The price in Canada is totally insane now and not affordable. There is no consistency and stability anymore with the brand either, which makes it risky to invest in. It’s really sad because the Series X is fantastic. But their handling of the brand is all over the place. It seems safer to get the games I want on PlayStation. And Valve hardware is becoming very interesting, and has consistent messaging and staying power.
I hope I’ll be able to finish Keeper before my gamepass expires end of the month, as almost 40$ (after tax) a month in my province for gamepass is ridiculous.
Oh good. Raise the price to almost 40$ CAD (after tax) and remove DLC discounts. Everyone cancelling is sure to subscribe again with that amazing deal.
How about they rehire the thousands of employees they fired for no reason instead, as the company is making record profits and can afford to pay all their execs disgustingly well.
With 12% tax where I am in Canada, it is now almost 40$ a month. It is a better value now to buy games I can always play. This insane increase along with the savage job cuts they have done, is too much. I just cancelled gamepass.
This is horrifying. The tv streaming mentality is now being applied to games because of gamepass. This is a disaster for everyone. The last thing we need is the type of metric Netflix uses to cancel or renew shows, being applied to games. I love gamepass as a consumer, but if this is the road developers are going down, having to design games specifically to do well in gamepass metrics, I wish gamepass never existed.

They’ve run out of people to fire and studios to close, so they need to buy more for a new talent pool to lay off.
