15 hours a month translates to 30 minutes per day, basically less than the average TV episode. To me, that's what this is all about. They didn't offer a workable limit like 100 hours, which is similar to GeForce Now, but instead offered a limit that is unworkable to even the most casual of players. It represents a level of cynicism towards XBOX players as a whole that is frankly quite insulting when you expect them to continue using your services. I use XBOX Cloud gaming quite a bit when I'm away from my PC because I travel a lot as a freelance engineer but now, with a 15-hour limit, I will cancel my subscription at the end of October and transfer to GeForce Now so I can play my Steam games on the move. It's one thing to introduce a limit where none existed before and it is quite another to go from fully unlimited to 15 hours a month. Logically it makes zero sense and reminds me of back when internet companies used to collude with MMO games to offer predatory $6/hour internet so that people could spend time within their favorite worlds. And that's what this 15-hour limit is: Cynical and Predatory. And to those who think that they are immune to these effects because they don't use the service, mark my words - once they are done with us, they will come for you because that's how it always goes, when a company pushes something predatory and sees zero pushback, they take that as a sign that they didn't cross any lines and continue pushing further and further. Luckily for us, the consumers, there exists alternatives with much better deals than 15 hours per month.
15 hours for game pass ultimate is unacceptable. Even GeForce Now offers 100 hours for its premium tiers. As someone who is part of that 4% (I travel a lot and my gaming PC is Linux), I am cancelling my game pass ultimate subscription at the end of this month.
