Well, well, well! Ahead of its apparent announcement at the ID@Xbox Showcase next week, internet sleuths have discovered an official Xbox Store page for Shrek 2 Remastered, which is coming to Xbox Series X and S.

The page reveals that it's being developed by Aspyr Media, known for ports of the likes of Star Wars Episode 1 Racer and Lord of the Rings: War in the North. This version of Shrek 2 is said to have been "rebuilt with better textures, enhanced UI, 4K resolution and cutscenes", along with a new Photo Mode and Cheat Mode.

A GTA 6-like trailer has even been revealed ahead of time via the Xbox Store, which you can see below:

Of course, Shrek 2 (the game) was never considered an absolute masterpiece by the critics, but it holds a lot of nostalgia value with so many people who grew up playing it on the Xbox, PS2, GameCube and PC, and we reckon it's going to be another high-selling port for Apsyr when it eventually releases.

There's no mention of a release date in the trailer that's been shared today, but all this information wasn't supposed to be revealed ahead of time, so there's a chance we might hear more about a launch window at the ID@Xbox showcase.

For now, we'll leave you with more details and images from the official Shrek 2 Remastered Xbox Store page below.

"Journey through the fairytale kingdom of Far Far Away from Shrek’s swamp to Fiona’s castle and everywhere in between, in a classic action-adventure experience inspired by the DreamWorks Animation movie. Play solo or with up to three friends in co-op, take control of your favorite Shrek heroes as you smash, throw and kick your way against iconic characters from the franchise."
