I’m a casual Xbox player. I bought every Xbox console on day release that was ever made. I’ve recently been reading about the new upcoming Microsoft Xbox project Helix. The new system that’s supposedly going to be a cross between an Xbox and a PC. At first I thought yes, I’ll be one of many looking forward to making my pre-order. Then I stopped and thought again. The Helix is reportedly going to be approximately £1,000. It’s not the price that scares me, it’s a case of is it a want or a need, and for me it would be a want. Why would I buy the Project Helix when I have a perfectly very good condition and working Xbox Series X console. Also, why would a PC gamer buy the project helix when he or she already has an expensive PC. To those answers I could only come to the conclusion that they wouldn’t. I’m afraid that those in charge of Microsoft and Xbox are hoping that people will migrate from their current systems. If they add thought to the questions I pose then they should come up with the same conclusion, but I’m afraid they won’t. I personally think that building the new project Helix will be a financial flop, and we the owners of the new current Xbox and PC players will feel the financial crunch when they put up prices again in an attempt to recoup their financial losses.
