Re: Xbox Wants More Feedback From Devs, Including Why Some Are Avoiding The Platform

LogicStrikesAgain

@GamingFan4Lyf I was one of the people who was very much interested in buying a series X from when i first saw it. Ive owned 2 of the 3 previous generations Xbox. But it wasnt any of the reasons u listed that prevented me from buying. I didnt care how cross gen was handled. Also didnt feel like the feature set was so much better. Ur 3rd point is what im confused by? Cause you say they actually did come with games and not one remaster.
Ironically, my main reason for not buying a series X till now was that i felt Xbox distinctly didnt have many games for the first couple of years. Where Playstation did very well in that regard. So much so, that i could excuse the occasional 'directors cut'. Till now. There are only a few games, maybe 2, that i want to play on Xbox. They can market all they want. Advertising wouldnt convince me. Good games convince me

@BrandNewOldSchool Well to each its own i guess. Ofcourse the games were a lot different, lets say from the Super nintendo to the PS1. In that 3d graphics were hardly possible on the super nintendo. I would say Metal Gear looked far superiour to like a Donkey Kong. But i also realize that that would be an unfair comparison cause they go for far different aesthetics. I cant think of many nintendo games, cause i wasnt really a big nintendo player back then. But im betting Gran Turismo looked far superior than any 3d racing game the Super Nintendo had, or whichever consoles came before the PS1

I will agree though, that a lot didnt look as good as some of the most impressive games

@BrandNewOldSchool I dont agree. You have to put it in perspective. Back then people we're amazed to see 3d graphics. No one had ever seen anything quite like it before. Ofcourse looking back now it doesnt look good. But then, games like Metal Gear, Tekken 3, Parasite Eve, Silent Hill, Gran Turismo had some of the most amazing graphics people had seen. But the jump to PS2 was immense, because graphics still had so much they could improve upon

@__jamiie Im wondering what you mean by pushing it more? Do you think developers these last 4 years have been leaving some untapped power on the table with their games?

Dude this is pretty much what you're gonna get. Lots of games already being pushed by these new engines. These are next gen engines. And a RTX2070 equivalent isnt gonna cut it. I dont know what ure waiting for, but ure gonna wait a long time for it.

Also, creating games now and in the PS3 era is uncomparable. Different hardware, different engines. They dont have to figure out 'Cell architecture' for instance.

And calling developers lazy, is so ungrounded. Like, where are you getting that from? You know how hard it is to make games? Its one of the hardest forms of media to create. It takes many different and high level technical expertises working together for many years. Even making films pales in comparison. Most work under high pressure because of deadlines and budgets.

But im just an individual, how can i be a multi billion dollar company? If i wanted to have a machine with those specs. The cheapest way for me would be to buy a Pro.

Also i dont get what i said wrong, you were arguing that 'more choice is bad' right? The other poster said, more choice is good. And u were arguing against it if im not mistaken. Im just saying the racist cover plates example is stupid

Edit: I can see that the way i phrased it could be misinterpreted

Re: Opinion: As The Dust Settles On PS5 Pro, I'm Still Glad Xbox Didn't Bother

@__jamiie I applaud it. It would suck if the next 4 years we would only have the base PS5. That would mean either no graphical improvement in games or worse and worse performance and image quality in the upcoming 4 years. Imagine 2028. And we're still playing on consoles with the equivalent of a RTX2070. PC graphics would be wayyyyyy ahead.

Atleast consoles are now able to play games on reasonably high settings and high fps with advanced technologies like machine learning, that'll atleast keep it up a little with PC and graphical improvements these upcoming years

Re: Opinion: As The Dust Settles On PS5 Pro, I'm Still Glad Xbox Didn't Bother

LogicStrikesAgain

@StylesT Its not that people are pretending they see differences. There are definitely differences. In both image quality or frames per second. However nowadays difference is gonna be small, not like in earlier console generations. I dont know if some of you only follow console news and tech. But its been years in PC gaming now where graphical upgrades are nothing more than small enhancements. A little more ray tracing here. A little more fps there. Why? Because of diminishing returns. We are already nearing photorealism. Again, its not gonna magically improve with the same jump as in earlier console generations, when there were much more graphical improvements to be made.

This is not a PS5 Pro thing. If you upgrade from a RTX 4070 to a RTX4090, guess what? You're gonna have to pixel peep to see the difference. If at all, maybe you go for the fps enhancement and play it at the same image quality as before.

Articles like this who ignore the "pixel peeping experts" and say there are no differences are really asking for too much in the graphical improvement department. Trust me, if your expectations are too high in that department, next gen is gonna be real dissapointing for you

Re: Opinion: As The Dust Settles On PS5 Pro, I'm Still Glad Xbox Didn't Bother

LogicStrikesAgain

Im sorry man, but this kinda reads like you do care. It comes across like youre overexplaining a lot about how happy you are Microsoft didnt do it. I bet you if Microsoft did come out with a Pro version, you'd be all over it.

Also, the main point of the PS5 Pro isnt to play last years games. Its for the upcoming 4 years worth of games.

And if Digital Foundry pixel peeping doesnt impress you, i hate to break it to you but "next gen" isnt gonna be a whole lot better. People need to stop expecting PS1 to PS2 levels of graphical difference between generations.

Re: PS Vita Classic 'Freedom Wars' Is Getting A Remaster For Everything Except Xbox

LogicStrikesAgain

@Pabpictu Well i think Sony should be atleast a bit afraid. Microsoft has shown they are able and willing to buy up large chunks of the gaming industry. Something Sony is not able to do on that scale. If the exclusivity strategy is working for Sony then its probably a good idea to keep pursuing that, for them to stay competitive.

I know we like to see it from a consumer point of view. But business wise, they cannot compete financially with a multitrillion dollar company. If they start porting their IPs to Xbox now, what other competitive edge would Playstation still have?

Regarding Nintendo, probably Sony doesnt really see them as competitors
