@InterceptorAlpha you know, you’re spot on here. I remember having this exact same feeling when the core was announced. What a step back from the original Xbox where the dev could expect EVERY console to have a hard drive. They were too busy chasing Sony while Sony learned from what Xbox got right and adopted it for PS3. HDD & Ethernet
Yeeeeeeaaa not buying any SE games on Xbox until I’m confident that the support will be ongoing. The mystery is still what caused the relationship to degrade to this level in the first place?
Man I’m excited to see what’s coming up but boy oh boy, I hope Xbox doesn’t shoot themselves in the foot here. I’m optimistic though, this feels different 💪
@EvilSilentFrame unfortunately MS has software blocked other SSD’s from working. I have a cfexpress to NVME dongle that slots in just fine but when booting up basically states that the drive is not supported….. really unfortunate
Overall, this is still way too expensive, an official dongle would be ideal, but MUCH cheaper options would be welcome as well. Hopefully once we crack open the WD SSD we’ll discover that their internals are cheap online
Yea, this gen has definitely highlighted how terrible the leadership at Sony is AND how toxic their worst fans are. I definitely believe Sony not just wants a world where they don’t have an Xbox in the picture but is actively trying to bring that dream to fruition.
The thing is though…. With years like 2022, Xbox is helping them out a ton. I’m hopeful 2023 starts a permanent wave of delivery.
@theduckofdeath man, I remember watching all of this go down, and just thinking wow, they are blowing it right now…. I think you’re exactly right, the likes of BioWare should have long ago been an Xbox studio but they missed the opportunity big time…. I’m really hoping there’s still time to make this the best Xbox generation yet. We’ll see
@GADG3Tx87 so I’m no longer sure if you’re making good faith arguments here…. The initiative launched in 2018, we’re four years on from that. I’m not sure what AAA games you know of recently that were developed in that time frame. Ragnarok MAY BE being the exception but also probably not as they essentially built everything off of the first game from 2018… They also needed to hire and plan… what am I missing here?
I also don’t think you’re serious in comparing third party games from game pass, which are also on Sony consoles, to third party exclusives that Sony pays for, or about there being very little of them. This one is VERY easy to disprove.
Also, Bethesda games HAVE released on other platforms following the acquisition of Zenimax. Are they to release EVERY game into eternity on every platform henceforth? Would you? Would Sony?(From example no) How does that strengthen their platform? Why purchase studios in the first place? Please tell us more….
@GADG3Tx87 Phil Spencer actually took over in 2014, which while close, does not make ten years. Also, from there, how long does it take to redraw the plans and then develop a game? 4-5 years??? Didn’t we get Gears, Forza, Halo, exponential growth in Xbox Studios stables in that time? Would I have liked more? ABSOLUTELY! But if your boss gives you a $100 dollars and says throw an office party, you’d better be damn sure you’re catered by McDonalds that evening. Let’s hold people accountable but let’s not be unreasonable here.
@theduckofdeath agreed except I think they slowed things down toward the end of the 360… I think Steve Ballmer really did not see the value in Microsoft’s gaming endeavors and was really content keeping the division on a short leash…. It sucks because he later retired and no longer has to be concerned with it all….
@GADG3Tx87 whoa whoa whoa, that’s a little harsh…. Even this year that has not seen major tentpole releases has still seen SOME first party output, granted they are a bit more niche games. This is not a kayak though this is the titanic, it takes time turn and to right almost a decade of mistakes that honestly started toward the end of the 360 generation. They are doing that now…. Now if 2023 comes and goes with nothing to show for the last few years of work then yeah, sign me up for the eat a plate of barbed wire pasta party you’re throwing right now. Imagine for a second that you don’t meet a deadline at work and then your team starts to call you a liar who makes false promises, was that your intent or did you just miss… sheesh, let’s put on our perspective glasses for a sec here. Hold Xbox accountable but don’t vilify them man
@theduckofdeath I felt the same way, especially getting toward the end of the show with no Xbox content when the camera would pan to Phil… I know inside he’s got to be beyond frustrated with the output at Xbox but I also think he probably takes some solace in the fact that it’s almost over…. Still has to hurt watching your chief competitor get nomination after nomination and win award after award with nothing on the Xbox side at all.
Yea, was quite disappointed to see nothing from Xbox here. With so much supposedly slated for next year this doesn’t make much sense. The only thing I could think of was holding back for their own surprise announcements or to make regulators think Sony is extra dominant. Regardless, I went in hyped, what a blow
@BeerIsAwesome seems they aren’t specifically shading PlayStation but the people and “bots” that follow Xbox so hard just to post “PlayStation better” on every post. Equating those people/trolls to razor blades in Halloween candy is masterful indeed
Wow, hoping all of this translates to and amazing story and gameplay experience. Bethesda games have been some of my absolute favorites in the past. Morrowind is my favorite game of all time
Also @dsswoosh, what’s wrong with Ariel being played by a black actress to empower little black girls? Jesus has been played by a white actor for a couple thousand years now…… 🫣

@Matthewnh unless the sound we’re hearing is simulating what’s heard from the interior of the hull while the firing mechanisms are active 😉

Sell Aspyr or Crystal Dynamics to MS. Seems like a better fit to me, like BioWare before EA bought them.
