A bit difficult when fatpunkslim treats even the slightest hint of negativity aimed at Xbox like someone came over to his place and shot the family dog. 😂
I like the guy, he's part of the furniture here, but make no mistake, he's a textbook fanboy through and through. That's not meant as an insult, he's just (frighteningly) passionate about all things Xbox. Nowt wrong with that.
Home-brewing a console isn't always about piracy - if that is what you're implying. A lot of it is granted, but not always.
My OG Xbox was homebrewed and it served as one helluva a media player that expanded far beyond it's original capabilities. It also allowed me to transfer Mame to it so I could play all my favourite arcade games from my misspent youth. 4 player Gauntlet sat on my sofa with friends? Awesome.
Sadly it gave up ghost in the end, but I got some good years out of it.
If you're content to have bloat like Denuvo on your PC then that's your perogative, but I'm not. Any game that it rears its ugly head on in the past I've binned off, (the fact that many a developer, more often than not, try to hide that they're using it is quite telling). I shan't be buying Crimson Desert. I can live without it and Denuvo.
No, it's spyware regardless of their claims. It's also horrendous, unnecessary bloat that hampers performance across the board. PC gamers dislike Denuvo for good reason.
I'll give them credit for acknowledging they've used it, but they've lost a sale for my part.
You could argue that sites like Pure Xbox fuel the negativity, at least in some small measure, because it generates clicks. That's how all media works. Simply laying the blame at the feet of those that comment on these articles is disingenuous.
As pretty as Crimson Desert looks I've a feeling it'll turn out to be a jack of all trades, master of none.
Regardless, because of the developer openly acknowledging that they've incorporated Denuvo DRM spyware it's now been scratched off my to buy list altogether.
While there's always going to be those that feed off articles/opinion pieces like this there's no question that Microsoft have brought much of it upon themselves.
If Steam comes to Helix, (which is looking more and more likely), you folks are going to have fun weeding out all the shovelware and interactive porno story books. 😂
As good as Steam can be its catalogue can be a nightmare.
First off hopefully I'll be able to receive notifications with this new account. We shall see. I've a funny feeling, though, the mods will think it's a dummy account and ban me. Hopefully not.
Anyway, on PC I've been continuing with The Witcher 3 and I'm immensely enjoying it. Some quests are stronger than others, but that's to be expected. No idea how far I am into the game, but that's fine as I'm not timing my play-through. I'm just enjoying the journey.
Also set my Switch up on my bedside unit for some gaming before sleep if I'm not into the mood for reading, (as is my usual routine).
Been playing Metroid Prime Remastered, which is excellent. Just garnered the suit upgrade so can now traverse the Magmoor Caverns.
Still enjoy SSX and DOA Ultimate on the Series S. I did pick up a few other titles this week, namely Fable, A Bards Tale Trilogy and Powerslave/Exhumed, the latter of which I've just begun and it's fabulous.
After deciding it was a mistake to pack it away I set my 360 back up and have been tearing through the simply fantastic Forza Motorsport 4. Remains the best in the series for my money.
Finally Rage 2 on the PS4. The only reason I have it on this system was because I picked it up for under a tenner. Mindless mayhem it's a damn fun game.

@16BitHero
Grindcore/death metal band Carcass had a great album called 'Swansong'.
... it wasn't their last album. 😉
Re: Over 50,000 Votes For 'Xbox Game Preservation' Titles Have Been Added In A Week
Still a pretty boring, predictable list.

I had an Amiga 500 Plus. It was a great computer. I've so many fond memories of it and not just the games. Paint, OctaMED and so forth.
I eventually had a A1200, but most the software I owned wasn't compatible. 🤦

To quote one of my favourite movies, Sexy Beast:
"Where there is a will, and there is fu*king will, there is always a way. And there is a fu*king way"
Re: Talking Point: What Should Xbox Call Its 'Project Helix' Console?
@Banjo-
It's certainly been a lot more transparent of recent.
My little jokey names aside I think I'm with you on calling it Xbox Helix.

Thanks for the reply, not because of the topic, but because it has confirmed that I'm still not recieving notifications, even with a new account.
Clearly a problem on PX's end.

@kmtrain83
maybe we’ll just be making our own video games in the 10 to 20 year mark with a simple voice command
There's no way that'll ever happen even it were possible. The corporations just wouldn't allow it, there's just too much money to be made.

Re: Data Firm Predicts PC Revenue Will Soon Surpass Console As Xbox Prepares To Bridge The Gap
None of my friends have consoles anymore. All moved to PC, so absolutely a certainly.
I'm the only one of my group who still has game consoles alongside my own PC.

Re: Talking Point: What Do You 'Expect' From Xbox Over The Next Five Years?
5 years?
I expect Xbox to become little more than an app for 3rd party hardware and other devices.
As much as a shame it is I genuinely believe Project Helix will be the last hardware dedicated to Xbox to come out of Microsoft.
They will become a very strong game publisher, of that I've no doubt, but will be out of the home console race altogether.
As predominantly a PC gamer, though, I believe I actually have more to gain from the future of Microsoft/Xbox than Xbox gamers themselves. 🤷
