Microsoft Wants To 'Live Up' To What Xbox Fans Expect, So What Do You Want?

Back at the start of the week, we shared how Microsoft boss Satya Nadella recently had some very interesting things to say about fan expectations at Xbox, including a need to "make sure they love us for what they expect us to do".

Nadella didn't really go into specifics about this though, only throwing out terms like "console", "PC", "Halo" and "Forza" and suggesting those were important parts that can help "live up to what they expect of us".

"We have to really make sure, whether it's console, whether it's PC, whether it's the lover of Forza, Halo, we really want to make sure they love us for what they expect us to do."

The question is, what does that look like over the next five years? In that time, we should be getting multiple major first-party releases (including the likes of Fable and Gears of War: E-Day in 2026), a new Project Helix console along with other potential hardware releases, and a new strategy that aligns with Asha Sharma's vision as boss.

At the moment, it's very hard to predict how things will go, but it does feel like there's been a change of strategy in Satya Nadella's mind at the very least. While Asha Sharma has suggested that everything is on the table in terms of what could be re-jigged at Xbox, Nadella's pledge to "always invest in gaming" and seemingly place more focus on the long-term fans' wishes would appear to show that changes are afoot for this year and beyond.

This is such a crazy time for Xbox, and it feels like we're going to be getting multiple twists and turns over the next five years. At the end of it, Xbox could be in its healthiest position in decades, or could be facing somewhat of a nightmare scenario. Whatever the case may be, we're fascinated to know what you "expect" from the brand during that time!

What do you want to see and what do you think you'll see from Xbox by 2031?! Tell us in the comments.
