Because it could've meant (based off the Zenimax buyout) that Activision games would no longer come to PlayStation. Of course PlayStation fans were happy at the FTC and CMA for trying to block the deal.

Also the same argument can be made about how xbox fans reacted to Sony's attempted buyout of FromSoftware.

@JustinTimberlake How are we starved for games? We got Helldivers 2 Astro Bot, Final Fantasy, Silent Hill and Rise of the Ronin last year and we're getting Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Youtei, Lost Soul Aside and Phantom Blade Zero this year

@Norsecode 3-4 years ago Activision and Zenimax were third party and released their games on every platform. Of course PlayStation fans want them to continue releasing their games on PlayStation

It objectively still is the better platform since it has access to far more games than xbox.

Wish they would add more games to back-compat. Playing og xbox games at 4K 60 is pretty much the only use I get out of my series x these days.

Why does everything have to be prequel era crap nowadays?

I sold my Series X a couple of weeks back due to a lack of original games, and I don't regret it. I'm happy enough playing my JRPGs on Switch 2 and using PS5 for the PlayStation games, plus others like Lost Soul Aside.

Sony revealed Astro Bot, Ghost of Youtei, Helldivers, Marathon and Saros in their last few showcases and even announced a couple first party games at a Nintendo showcase (Patapon and Everybody's Golf).

Also you do realise every single xbox first party game is multiplatform since they release day one on PC right?

No it isn't true. PlayStation has had a much larger 1st party output this generation than xbox

Was able to install it and play it for about a day now says I need to buy it.

Glad I didn't get too far into it so I can start just again on my Steam Deck.

@fatpunkslim On the other hand, one could question Microsoft, which isn't producing as many games anymore and seems to lose former exclusives to PlayStation's benefit almost every day, like Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, High on Life, Call of the Sea, The Medium, As Dusk Falls, Pentiment, Scorn, Warhammer 40,000 Darktide, Indiana Jones, Grounded, Age of Mythology Retold, Forza Horizon 5 (with more Forza titles on the way), Ninja Gaiden 2, and others.

No the big difference is that PlayStation doesn't need to port any of their games (new or old) to xbox since they're far more successful than them this generation.

You can thank Activision and Bethesda for supplying you with your "first party" games because without them xbox would have less games than they did last gen.

It doesn't though. PS5 has objectively more exclusives than Xbox Series X and it's not even close.

That comment makes no sense as Sony doesn't do the same thing. I'm an avid collector of physical games and I can't think of a single Sony first party game this generation that isn't complete on disc

@johnedwin and how is microsoft any different? they lost the last generation badly and yet xbox fans are still buying their consoles.

Series X has good back-compat for xbox 360 (roughly 25%) but original xbox is a complete joke. Only 63 out of 989 games are backwards compatible. PS5 can play roughly the same amount of PS2 classics.

What features does the Switch 2 have (aside from portability) that PS5 is missing? The only xbox that's cheaper is the Series S which is heavily underpowered compared to PS5. You can play PS5 games on mobile through remote play and majority of games on xbox aren't play anywhere enabled.

Aside from day one games on gamepass there's literally no reason to get an xbox over a PS5.

@Friendly PlayStation has more games, has a way better controller, is the only brand with a pro console and access to VR gaming, has cheaper SSD expandability, has a cheaper subscription service (if you buy a yearly subscription) and is even getting xbox games released on it while xbox isn't getting any PlayStation games.
