Re: Talking Point: So, Have You Tried Out Hogwarts Legacy On Xbox Game Pass Yet?

@Markatron84 That’s been my approach. I know some folks don’t have a problem with it because of either reasonable or abhorrent reasons, but I’m also not a censorship fan. I like to allow someone’s actions to speak for them. Sadly, I loved HP growing up but have too many people in my life affected by the really predatory/creepy and unhinged war the author is on.

As for the game itself, it looks fantastic and I have friends who have procured it by less than scrupulous means tell me that it’s one of WB’s best in a while. I really hope that those who have played it do experience the joy I did as a young person with the series. That also being said, I would love to see WB borrow this engine and style for other fantasy games. It looks solid and could serve as inspiration for other franchises.

While I think this strategy would be most effective by porting/developing ground up to Switch 2, Xbox and PC are the only comparable alternatives to PS5. With Xbox’s hardware future not completely made transparent yet, I’m starting to worry about huge AAA titles only seeing the light of day on PS5, or lazily ported to NS2 without polish while Xbox is ignored. I was console fanboy trash in the 90s when I was young, dumb, and susceptible to the lack of class SEGA had in its advertising back then, but I’m now platform agnostic because I don’t trust any one platform to be consumer friendly without real competition.

Re: Report: Xbox Suffering Major Layoffs Next Week, Microsoft Declines To Comment

It’s really demoralizing. During the ActiBliz drama, I was really hoping that Xbox would be a new dawn for the employees going through all of the Hell Kotick and leaders at that company put them through only for Microsoft to promise them better then conduct layoff after layoff. The days of Iwata who took a pay cut during the WiiU fiasco are long gone.

Re: Five Ways The Switch 2 Reveal Has Been A Huge Win For Xbox

@PsBoxSwitchOwner I agree. There have been some tone deaf and smug responses to this on PX and PS. If you look at SNES pricing in 1993 and adjust for inflation, games were WELL over $100. New PlayStation games in 1997 adjusted were close to $100. I’m puzzled as to why anyone thinks that this is somehow unprecedented. Not defending Nintendo, but this isn’t 2008 anymore. The world isn’t the same, the industry isn’t the same, and there are new waters to traverse. If you compare prices from the 90s and 2000s through an inflation lens, $80 feels generous. That being said, I still agree with everyone that it sucks. I certainly am not looking forward to that with Nintendo games and the INEVITABLE hikes coming to PlayStation and Xbox games.
