Call Of Duty On Switch 2 Looks Imminent As 'Nintendo' Files Appear In COD App

Last month, we heard from Xbox reporter Jez Corden that Microsoft's Call of Duty series would soon move over to Nintendo platforms, and over the last few days, some evidence has cropped up to suggest that COD on Switch 2 is imminent.

As covered in an update by our friends over at Nintendo Life, social media account Reality has shared some code from within the Call of Duty app; code that now mentions Nintendo as a 'Platform Family' alongside the likes of Microsoft, Sony, Steam and others. The code also shows 'na' for Nintendo Account underneath 'xbl' for Xbox Live and 'psn' for PlayStation Network.

Of course, this is just internal PC code at present and isn't yet viewable on the game's front-end UI or anything, but it certainly suggests that Xbox's Activision team is working behind the scenes to get its behemoth shooter series ready for Switch 2. And, with those prior reports from Corden, it sounds like a nearby release is pretty likely.

As for which Call of Duty game this will turn out to be, it's hard to know right now. This code has been dug up in the COD app, which currently houses Black Ops 6, Black Ops 7 and the free-to-play Warzone, so it's most likely to be one of those titles for now. In the future, though, we'd like to see Microsoft and Activision revisit the series' illustrious backlog for future Switch 2 (and maybe even some Xbox remaster) releases.
