Last night, we covered a story that was rapidly doing the rounds on social media about how Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 barely had any professional reviews for Xbox, whereas the PC and PS5 versions had loads of them.

This was getting a ton of attention at the time, and it eventually sparked an official response from Xbox CTO Scott Van Vliet, who issued a statement promising that the situation will improve in the future.

In his message, the Xbox exec highlighted how reviewing a game "takes too many steps" at present:

In fact, we've already been contacted about Xbox review access for Modern Warfare 4 since Van Vliet published this statement a few hours ago, so this is evidently something that's being taken seriously by Xbox and Activision.

As we mentioned last night, Xbox is actually very, very good at sharing review access for first-party games like Gears of War: E-Day, Forza Horizon 6 and Halo: Campaign Evolved, but it when it comes to titles that fall outside the "Xbox Game Studios" banner (including third-party releases), the situation can sometimes become more difficult.

This doesn't mean people are suddenly going to start reviewing all their multi-platform games on Xbox consoles (after all, PS5 has a larger install base than Series X and S), but it should at least mean that when it comes to situations like Modern Warfare 4, we're not left with just two Xbox reviews and over 30 for PS5 and PC.
