Re: It Might Be Old, But The Xbox 360 Is Still An Amazing Console In 2024

I rebought a 360 from a toy fair. The 360 era was amazing - XBLA weekly releases were always something to look forward to imo, as was necessitation of trial versions. The library was superb and bought so many games over the years.

Thing is tho id been on the fence about getting one again primarily because of how wireless controllers are handled and how worn down 360 controllers often got. Im disappointed about the marketplace shut down but re grabbed some of my stuff before hand.

I think there is some kind of an adapter (Brook Wingman convertor) that i have been eyeing. But i havent really taken the plunge. I feel like more rrsearch is needed, but being able to use Xbox One controllers would be nice

360 pad was fantastic for its time, but I found the sticks had way more issues sooner in wearing out and seemed to develop some shoulder button issues on some of them (having to push down harder).

Those issues and the need to constantly replace the play and charge cables were probably the biggest reasons I eventually gave up my 360. I have kind of been hoping someone would go back (or Microsoft would somehow provide a firmware update) that allows xbox one controllers or chargers to work on 360, then i might be more tempted to go back and grab a secondhand 360.

I loved XBLA and had a really nice collection, many games which will never be on Xbox One. I just want a better solution for playing them.

So is the experience the same for game pass and non-game pass subscribers? If so this just feels like one big lame ad for game pass itself. I also get the impression that they’re mimicking the netflix experience’ and trying to appeal to users used to that.

I don’t like it. In fact I haven’t liked any of the Xbox One Dashboards. I found most iterations of 360 much more user friendly by comparison. But even back then they started slowly introducing ads, this is just a continuation arguably on a larger scale.
