Xbox CCO Explains Why Marvel's Blade & Elder Scrolls 6 Didn't Appear At The Showcase

Following the Xbox Games Showcase this past Sunday, there was a bit of talk about Marvel's Blade and why Bethesda's new Xbox IP didn't appear at the event despite being announced a few years ago.

Xbox's Chief Content Officer Matt Booty was asked about this in an interview with Variety (published on Wednesday), to which he explained that not everything can make it into the show, with "other beats coming up in the year".

"It’s a big show, I can’t fit everything in. It’s a big show, and there’s other beats coming up in the year."

"There’s always potential to hear more about things that didn’t show up today."

That's specifically what he had to say about Marvel's Blade, but he did also talk a lot more about The Elder Scrolls 6 here, teasing that "it looks amazing, and it’s coming along well".

Again though, he advised that he wants to wait until the right moment to show it off publicly:

"...you want to get them excited early, but we also know that we want to wait till the right moment. And when you decide to show it, you want it to be the best you’ve got. And also that when you show the game, you’re also giving them a promise of, hey, it’s coming soon."

Based on what's been rumoured and shown off so far for Marvel's Blade and The Elder Scrolls 6, we're really not surprised that either of them didn't appear at XGS 2026 - it seems like they're still a ways off (particularly TES 6).

And let's not forget that the showcase was stacked enough already! With so many studios under Xbox's belt these days, there's no need to hype people up for projects that are multiple years away - let's give them a bit more time in the oven, and hopefully they'll be ready to highlight at the Xbox Games Showcase 2027 instead.

Were you surprised not to see either of these on Sunday? Tell us down in the comments below.
