Xbox Fans Question Marvel's Blade Absence From XGS 2026

We’ve got enough Marvel games from Sony this year.

Besides, Blade was a cinematic trailer, so I’m sure that’s a maybe next year announcement. It was probably barely in development when it was announced.

I think Microsoft are right to concentrate on games that are releasing within the following 12 months. Obviously sometimes a game slips into a later time period, but I think trying to stick to that rule is the right thing to do.

As for Blade, we have only seen a cinematic for the game thus far, and it could well have been made just to announce the game (way too early, but hey ho), so the probabilities are that the game is at least another couple of years away yet. We might see something of it at next years June showcase, but equally, I would not be surprised if we don't.

The interesting thing is probably by then Microsoft will have a better understanding of how exclusivity is working out for them. If it is working, then Blade may well be an exclusive, if it is not working, then it probably won't be exclusive. The fact that it is a licensed game, may also factor into whether the game will be exclusive.

It'll be interesting to see how the game is handled by the time it releases, and it would interesting to know now whether Microsoft are still developing the PlayStation version in tandem with the Xbox one, because whilst they will probably hope that they would be able to keep it as an exclusive, the Xbox landscape may look very different in two years, and so keeping it exclusive may not be an option. I'm not sure whether they would rather develop both platforms versions at the same time, or delay the release of the Xbox version whilst they ready the PlayStation one. If they have stopped work on the PlayStation version, then that shows some confidence in Xbox right now. If they haven't, then the reverse is true.
