On the eve of Black Ops 7 dropping into Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, another Call of Duty title could be on its way to the service. An Xbox user has seen a Game Pass ad pop up on their console dashboard that appears to include the original Modern Warfare 2 - a title that's yet to be added to any tier of Game Pass so far.
First off, let's take a look at that ad:
As you can see in the top right, this artwork is for the old MW2 - you know, the one from 2009 that first appeared on Xbox 360. However, that game also got a 'Campaign Remastered' version on Xbox back in 2020, which uses very similar cover art. In theory, this ad could relate to either of those versions, even though it's been pointed out that the tile more closely resembles the 2009 cover than that of the Xbox One remaster.
Either way, neither of these versions of the OG MW2 have been announced for Game Pass, so this ad is certainly curious. We heard from various sources back in February that this Call of Duty title could be on the way to Game Pass but that never materialised, so we're not sure what to make of this ad just yet. Last month, Mortal Kombat 1 appeared in a similar fashion and that hasn't been added yet - so we could simply be looking at an error here.
