Battlefield 6 Is An Absolute Smash Hit, The Best-Selling Game On Xbox In 2025 So Far (US)

Glad to see the game doing so well!
People have been crying out for another proper battlefield game for years and coupled with how lackluster cod is in every department this year they are sweeping up!

Nice to see Battlefield 6 back in good form.

With this year's Call of Duty Balck Ops 7 reception being less favorable, I wonder what sort of discussions are going on at Microsoft and Activision when they compare the performance to Battlefield.

So, the question is not if it beats CoD this year, but by how much it beats CoD. It might do almost double.

I hope CoD changes to biennial releases or better. Maybe a new base game every 3 years and 2 years of expansions.

Definitely a miss for me.

Between the small maps, open classes, and movement, just feels like another CoD. Albeit it closer to classic CoD than modern.

Which honestly makes sense why it is doing so well since they were going for that audience.

What I worry about is the game going to yearly releases as previously mentioned and that turning Battlefield even further down the CoD path

@TrollOfWar Probably naff all because they will have a premium, current gen only game brewing with an up-to-date engine that will attempt to capture some serious mind share from GTA 6 next year.

I assume Black ops 7 is a throwaway product that takes the stress off the developer's shoulders so they can add the extra bells & whistles, people will lap up the new one though and forget about this recent fiasco.

Kind of amazing how they righted the ship after laying an egg with 2042. Glad they’re back as I’ve always preferred Battlefield to CoD for multiplayer. (Usually CoD for the campaign, but not this year, lol)

@EdgarTheBug This year's Call of Duty does feel a bit like a filler. Reminds me of Black Ops 4, which didn't have a campaign and only added the battle royale mode.

I wouldn't bet on any major changes to the engine to make it "current gen" . The engine is fairly versitile and looks decent enough, there are millions of players still on Xbox One and PS4, and Microsoft promised to release Call of Duty on Nintendo hardware.

Why are people talking about COD?

The list is up to November, 11.

Black Ops 7 released November, 14.

We don't know if it sold better or worse than BF6 yet.

The best selling BF of all time in such a short time is pretty crazy.

@InterceptorAlpha Not sure how you can compare COD with BF. If you try to play BF6 like you would COD you end up dead quick. They are fundamentally different experiences.

@Avaloner Not sure how you can't with how tiny the maps are, how quick the TTK is, and for all intents and purposes having no classes due to unlocked weapons.

Your personal feelings also does not negate the fact they they were not only aiming for the CoD crowd, but that they're looking to move to yearly releases like CoD.

@InterceptorAlpha Nah! I don't agree at all. BF6 is pure Battlefield and doesn't resemble COD in anyway what-so-ever. If they were really looking to attract the COD players, they would've added over the top skins and annoying characters.
Also, BF6 technically still does have classes, even though they can use each others weapons, they still have their own gadgets and traits. Recon using a sniper for example, has increased breath-holding duration and the ability to spot the enemy at further distances. But if an Assault player uses a sniper, they wouldn’t get that same benefit.

You mean like the over top tank skins and the bright neons some are wearing for some reason? Not 2042 tier goofy with Santa running around. But still goofy.

And yes. Like I said. Essentially no classes. You get inconsequential benefits that do nothing to really encourage using the correct weapons with the same class. Then they buried closed weapons, even in the beta, and let it die. Just one more step toward a more a CoD like experience.

That's to say nothing of the tiny map size, lackluster destruction, and a smattering of other issues.

Thankfully refunds are ways to get nowadays

@InterceptorAlpha Have you actually played the game? I'm pretty sure there are closed weapon modes and destruction is far from lackluster in my opinion.
