Shadow drop time! Rumours have been swirling on this one for a few weeks now, but EA has just officially launched Battlefield REDSEC - a new battle royale spinoff to its recent FPS Battlefield 6. The best part? It's available now on Xbox Series X|S as a completely free-to-play title.
Naturally, we've included the game's official gameplay trailer up above, which includes plenty of Battlefield shenanigans on REDSEC's massive battle royale map: Fort Lyndon. And, here's a quick description from EA and BF Studios on what to expect from Battlefield REDSEC:
"Now entering REDSEC, a free-to-play destination built on Battlefield’s iconic DNA. Drop into Fort Lyndon for a Battle Royale only Battlefield can deliver, featuring massive-scale destruction, fast-paced squad play, and the deadliest ring in BR. Survive and advance in Gauntlet: an all-new cutthroat, knockout-style elimination mode where squads race to complete missions. Then redraw the lines of battle with Portal. Play free now."
As you can see in both the launch trailer and the quote up above - Battlefield REDSEC contains some extra game modes alongside the main battle royale experience, so if BRs aren't your thing - this could still be worth the download. After all, Battlefield 6 has an incredibly solid base and should be a great platform for all of these different Battlefield branches!
Of course, this all-new battle royale also launches alongside Season 1 for Battlefield 6, which includes a bunch of new maps, modes and weapons across multiple content waves over the next few months. For everything on Battlefield 6 Season 1, check out our related story on that down below.
