'Battlefield 6' Confirmed As The Next Mainline Entry, Reveal Coming This Week

EA has officially titled the next Battlefield game, and its full reveal is right around the corner. Yep, the mega-publisher is keeping things simple this time with 'Battlefield 6' - the upcoming mainline entry in DICE's popular military shooter.

This one has been going through rounds of private testing for some time now, with plenty of that leaking to the public in recent months. You won't have to rely on unofficial information for much longer though - the official Battlefield 6 reveal trailer lands on July 24th.

"Prepare for the ultimate all-out warfare experience in Battlefield 6."

EA, DICE and a bunch of other development teams have been working together on this one for a good few years now - in the wake of the ill-fated Battlefield 2042 which launched on Xbox back in late 2021. This feels like another pivotal reboot for the franchise as EA faces stiff competition from Call of Duty, and other big online shooters like Delta Force.

We'd expect more details to arrive for BF6 as the year goes on, but for now, prepare for the game's official reveal trailer this Thursday at 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm BST.

Excited for this. But still cautiously optimistic.

Supposedly going back to vibe and feel of battlefield 3 and 4.

I have bought n played every battlefield.
And haven't really 'enjoyed' my time with them since BF4.

And do you know, the one I spent TONS of hours on... 1943 on the PS3🤓

I hope they don't have women soldiers in it. Call me old fashioned, but killing women makes me very uncomfortable

Honestly all they have to do is make a better Battlefield 4, it can’t be that hard but apparently it is very very hard. Also, bring back some WW1 or do a black ops style Battlefield ColdWar, where it’s proxy conflicts around the globe. Anyways if rumours are to be believed it’ll be a copy of Warzone, and if that is true then that is just very sad.

I think they've got one last real chance to win back the core BF players. If they screw up again, I cant see them holding ground. Let's wait and see.

As long as they dont have Bevis and Buthead skins or Seth Rogan, or pot smoking lizard or anyother immersion breaking skins I will be checking this out. I need a good FPS now that Call of Duty has become Fortnite for Rejects.

@Tasuki Stopped playing Bo6 for that reason. Hopefully BF6 isn't a microtransaction filled slop fest like modern CoD.

I hope this game was given the time it needed to cook and I hope even more than EA keeps expectations realistic. Like the rumors I heard of the game's budget and target player counts are insane and the type of thing that'd be an excuse to gut a studio for not doing the impossible.

@HardRockGamer Very unlikely considering the state of the industry. Microtransactions are like the vast majority of these companies profits at this point. And the public companies need to show growth with every new game for shareholders.

@WildConcept6 I know there will be some microtransactions, it's EA for gosh sake. But I'm talking about Beavis and Butthead in Call of Fortnite.

@HardRockGamer @WildConcept6 I agree there will be microtransactions, its just the state of live service games now. I am not even really against them either to be honest just stick with a theme. I mean have military outfits and maybe cameos and such but when you break the immersion is where I have the problem.

Either that or have it where we as players can turn off that b.s. on our screen. Like have a filter where they replace Bevis and Butthead on my screen so I can stay immersed.

Dont advertise that you are going to be a dark and edgy military FPS and then have Bevis and Butthead running around with unicorn fart guns shooting at Seth Rogan while avoiding some Ninja Turtles.

If CoD wants to go the creepy Fortnite Uncle then that fine just dont go calling yourself Black Ops 6 and saying you're a military shooter.

@Tasuki EXACTLY! CoD can't go around calling itself "realistic" or "edgy" with weed chameleons and Beavis shooting at a green dragon! This is why I like older games. Because there are no idiotic characters in them. I'm not against characters who actually fit in like the Terminator but I am very against guys like that freaking cardboard character.

@Tasuki I think the unfortunate reality is that this is no longer the expectation with the people who actively seek out and buy microtransactions. Games like Fortnite have trained them well. I don't disagree that it doesn't suit the game's aesthetic, but I also don't think that any of the people that care are the ones buying whaling on microtransactions. I mean do any of us even buy that many Microtransactions period? On COD in particular? Does anyone on this website. Because from what I've seen the people who even talk about Microtransactions often don't spend much on them. Microtransactions aren't targeting the people who think twice about them, and the people they are targeting spend a LOT of money on these collab cosmetics. Depending on the game and deal, companies might too. When all that money is on the table and the people that complain about it aren't contributing much to the piles of money, I just don't think publishers give a hoot about aesthetic. Game devs might, but they're also not the ones pushing Microtransactions (well most).

@HardRockGamer Right. A few years ago if I remember they had a Rambo skin in one of them (I want to say Cold War) which ok makes sense at least its military. Hell I can even deal with Predator to a point. But when you have cell shaded characters running around with characters that look like real military persons along with shark human hybrids how is that a military theme. How is that any theme to be honest. They just need to drop the Call of Duty name rebrand it as something else and everything will be fine. Just dont act like you are doing a favor to the old players and treat us like we are stupid.

@WildConcept6 They are targeting fans of other genres in hopes of getting their money too. They think ok we got the core Call of Duty fans dollars from them purchasing the game maybe they will spend more on a Price skin or an Adler skin that great but we want more. Oh throw some Bevis and Butthead Skins so we can get the Bevis and Butthead fans. Throw some TMNT skins to get the TMNT fans playing our game. Throw a pot smoking lizard there for all the stoners. Oh you get a skin, and you get a skin and you get a skin. It works well for Fortnite because they never claimed to be a military themed shooter. Again just dont claim to be something and do something else and treat people like their stupid.

@Tasuki I'm not saying it's not obxious of Activision (well now Xbox themselves), but it does admittedly work for all our grumbling. A game like COD doesn't care how people talk about it online or even it's identity. Integrity is probably a foreign word entirely. The collabs do make them money, so they'll keep doing them. They'll frankly say whatever nonsense or treat people however they want to, until it starts to affect playtime hours. We're just a statistic to them. You're not wrong in anything you're saying. I'm just saying I'd be surprised if the suits pushing for this stuff care.

@WildConcept6 You are absolutely right, which is why I will speak with my wallet. I dont see me buying or even playing Black Ops 7 if it comes to Gamepass as you said the suits dont care. In the end its the pot smoking Bevis and Butthead fans that buy that garbage who they care about, and sadly it shows. But it doesn't mean I have to support them. Its just sad to see a great franchise like CoD become that bad just because of corporate greed. I guess its time for me to move on.

Wake me up when fhr swap mechanic from.BF2 MC happens, destruction looks fine but isn't as compelling or a NEW BF game. It's need a gimmick. I'm not very interested here.

2042 using aspects of older games besides whatever else new was something I guess. But eh.

I haven't seen much impressive at all this gen at all.
