You might have heard some rumblings about a new Matrix "experience" coming to PlayStation in recent days, and now we know it's definitely coming to Xbox Series X and S as well — you can even pre-download it.
It comes with a file size of almost 30GB, so it sounds like a pretty chunky experience, and it's described as a "free, boundary-pushing cinematic and real-time tech demo." Here's the full description:
"Created by members of the original movie team including Lana Wachowski along with Epic Games and partners, 'The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience' is a wild ride into the reality-bending universe of 'The Matrix' that features performances by Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss.
Want to see what’s possible when you combine the power of Unreal Engine 5 with the Xbox Series X/S? Step into the world of one of the most iconic action franchises ever made. Pre-download 'The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience' now."
The only other thing we know about it so far is that it will be officially revealed at The Game Awards 2021 on Thursday evening, so that's seemingly when the experience will unlock on Series X and Series S.
That said, we haven't had a chance to see what happens when you load up The Matrix Awakens yet, so let us know what you find! It can be downloaded right now via the Microsoft Store (you'll find the web link above).
Are you going to pre-download this ahead of Thursday? Let us know in the comments below.

@TheSilverFalcon He states that literally in the first sentence.
Is this one those things that's going to bridge 3rd and 4th movies?
@Trmn8r Lol, my bad....
I can't wait. The Matrix has always been one of my favorite franchises and i am super looking forward the the 4th movie. This will hold me over regardless of what it actually is and i am gitty like a school girl on prom night.
Well, I loved the experience of visiting Deckard's apartment in Blade Runner 9732, so I'll check this out as well.
“How do we know what is real?”
Well for starters that’s not a film of Keanu but Keanu built in UE5
Really looking forward to this
It can't be worse than the second two movies I guess?
Shame there’s not a full tie in game like Enter the Matrix
It's a countdown timer. Set for 12/09/2021
Can't wait for the Digital Foundry breakdown with 400% zoom, 50% speed reduction and load time comparisons!
I've marked my calendar!
Just going to leave this here
