It's Sonic the Hedgehog's 30th anniversary this year and SEGA has been very quiet with what it has planned so far - if anything. However, a new listing suggests a collection of Sonic games could be making its way to consoles.
French retailer Sogamely has a Sonic Collection listed for PlayStation 4. There's no word on what it contains or whether there will be an Xbox release, but we think its safe to assume there will be. As noted by VGC, claims made by an insider earlier this year suggest this collection could contain Retro Engine remakes of Sonic 1 & 2, and other games “that have never seen a re-release before.”
Projects we know are in the works are a sequel to 2020's Sonic the Hedgehog movie (which recently had its plot leaked), and a LEGO set based on the iconic character. The same French retailer also listed a remaster of Sonic Colors, which originally only released on Nintendo systems back in 2010, but is expected to get an Xbox release.
SEGA has previously called 2021 a "year of celebration" for Sonic, promising new games, announcements, events, and more. We're yet to truly see those claims come to light, but with the platforming hero's anniversary approaching next month, it looks like a few things could be on the horizon.

This is awesome news, I hope they implement a save system for Sonic 1 and 2 similar to Sonic Mania where your game saves every time you finish a zone..
I just hope that Sonic 3 & Knuckles on Retro Engine is included because it's the best Sonic game, in my opinion. The Master System, Game Gear and rare Sonic games would be a nice bonus.
I loved him as a kid, but playing Sonic games these days, even the "good" ones, brings me more disappointment than joy. I think I'm done with Sonic for now, and for a while at least.
Not too much of a surprise given the anniversary, but I hope for those CW Sonic mobile games and a 60Hz version of generations to be included, amongst others.
If 3d games are included, I do not anticipate anything better than emulation or rushed ports.
Prove me wrong, Sega?
@IndoorHero Children always love Sonic.
Sega needs to keep the brand just afloat, kids will ask their parents to buy them Sonic.
It's Sonic. Temper your expectations.
A lot of the Sonic 3D games could use a remake. Sonic Heroes has tons of cheap deaths because of the camera, the Wii Sonic games are SD and both Colours and Secret Rings are decent, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is 30fps and SD, Sonic Generations is 30fps, Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 is a mess...
The last time that Sonic 3 & Knuckles was released was in 2010 (the dodgy DS port) and in 2011 (Steam). Time for a proper remaster on Retro Engine, something that Christian Whitehead wants to do since 2014.
It'll never happen, but I'll never stop dreaming for Adventure 3
This would make the third time I buy the original Sonic games. I'd rather they ported the 3D games, though.
@IndoorHero Touché.
But, kids do like modern Sonic.
At this point 30 years in Sega should be able to gather up a huge Sonic collection 2D and 3D! Cmon Sega let’s not screw this up!
