Update: We now have a date! The Persistence: Enhanced Edition will be launching for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on June 4, and here's what Graeme Ankers, Managing Director at developer Firesprite had to say about it:

We’re really excited to debut The Persistence on next-generation hardware, bringing improvements that intensify the immersive stealth horror for both existing players and newcomers alike.”

Original story: The Persistence is the latest game to be getting a free upgrade for Xbox Series X and S this year!

Fans will no doubt be happy to return to the terrors of the sci-fi horror game. Amongst the enhancements will be improved lighting and ray traced rendering. Not only that, but the next-gen version will also be getting a physical release. There’s no word on what date it’s expected to launch, but more details have been promised in the coming months.

“The Persistence Enhanced dials up the atmosphere and tension with improved lighting, UX enhancements for and Raytraced rendering.”

“We can't wait to show you the immersive features of The Persistence Enhanced, and how they create a truly spine-chilling new experience as you fight for survival aboard The Persistence. We'll have more details to share with you over the coming months - watch this space!”

It seems quite a lot of games are getting the Xbox Series X|S treatment in 2021. Earlier today it was also announced that Mortal Shell is getting an upgrade next week, which we can’t wait to see. The more, the merrier we say!
