There have been some rumblings recently that Microsoft might be planning one or two gaming events in March, but Xbox's Aaron Greenberg has taken to Twitter to "set expectations" about what's on the way.
Greenberg, who is GM of Xbox Games Marketing at Microsoft, was responding to an article that suggested Microsoft's rumoured 'What's New For Gaming' event on March 23rd might include news about FromSoftware's Elden Ring, but he warned that the company doesn't have anything like this planned in the near future.
"Just to set expectations: this is not happening. There are always things we have in the works, but nothing coming soon that would feature game announcements or world premieres like this."
This doesn't necessarily mean Microsoft won't have an event in store for March, however, as it's been suggested that the company will likely do something surrounding the Bethesda acquisition, which is expected to complete soon.
As for the Elden Ring news? This rumour comes from industry insider and VentureBeat reporter Jeff Grubb, who admittedly never suggested the news would arrive as part of an Xbox event, so it looks like some wires were crossed!

Good job to set expectations. People were getting all hyped for thirteen new games. Still excited to see what they do.
Aaron Greenberg setting expectations is like GameStop promoting buying new.
Last time he said to set expectations low they over delivered. Honestly i just wiry when they try and pump thing's up. I'm loving gamepass and Xbox so I'm still in the honeymoon phase I guess cuz I'm good either way. Looking forward to the Ascent and Gunk personally.
I just want more info on Fable and Starfield. One of the questions I have about Fable is it going to be an open world or more confined like the previous games I recently went back and played all three one is ok two is really good three was just terrible.
So we can't expect this to happen then..

@endlessleep There's every chance the Elden Ring news will still happen, but it was never claimed to be part of an Xbox event.
I'm not actually expecting anything interesting from this. We know what is expected in the short term and its not that much, but I'm happily working my way through the game pass games right now so no problem for me.
@VisitingComet1
Fable is the one I’m waiting for too.
My expectations are very high so I hope whenever we see the full reveal we’re not disappointed.
