Earlier this week, Microsoft held an AI and Gaming Research Summit featuring Xbox head Phil Spencer.
Paul Thurrott from the website Thurrott (the same source that originally spotted this event) is now suggesting Microsoft will also be holding a "what's new for gaming" event next month, on 23rd March. This will apparently follow with a Windows event, but there's no date for this yet.
Just last weekend, The Verge's Jeff Grubb hinted at Microsoft hosting a Bethesda-themed event around mid-March once the deal was closed. It's led to speculation that these two supposed events might even be linked - although there's another theory that the "what's new for gaming" event will be purely business-focused.
What do you make of this yourself? Can you see Microsoft hosting a game event by mid-March? Tell us down below.

Lol March 31st.
I don’t think this is going to be that big of an event if I’m honest. I think this is going to just be an overview kind of thing.
Let’s keep expectations in check and keep gaming.
It will probably be better then both PlayStation State Of Play and Nintendo Dircet
I think we'll get an update on Bethesda during March and everything else will be saved for the summer for either E3 or MS's own event.
No sense in MS blowing their load now when Sony's last State of Play was mainly focused on a PS5 update for FF7 Remake and didn't show much else.
@blinx01 yeah it’s an interesting proposition. It’s now MS the only platform that hasn’t done a “State of Direct” event, so they are due one but as the other 2 were so underwhelming it’s probably better to wait and save it all up. As much as we’d all love to see some new games.
@elpardo1984 Microsoft's last 2 events were extremely underwhelming (May Inside Xbox and July Xbox showcase) so I think they'll just sail by on Game Pass announcements via twitter until around June.
@Grumblevolcano I didn’t find either showcase “underwhelming”. The May one was one of the better the Inside Xbox Events, if I’m honest. And Most of the new Xbox games came from that May event- The Medium, Dirt 5, AC Valhalla, Yakuza Like a Dragon.
But I do agree minus a Bethesda update, they need to wait. That is unless they have something big coming out in April or May.
I am excited for this event, but worry Xbox will overhype this event. Many will expect tons of AAA games and a big show, but this more likely will be a a few updates, indies, and one bigger game. Either way, I’m excited
@Bdbrady I think even if they just say hey it's a gaming update for the next 3 months people will post wild expectations.
It happened to sony as there event wasn't bad as it focues in the bigger titles hitting the next 3-4 months
