Everything You Need To Know About NHL 22's Free Xbox Game Pass Trial

One of the great perks of EA Play being part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is that we get access to loads of games at no extra charge, and we also get free trials of upcoming games such as this month's NHL 22.

The latest entry in EA's hockey series doesn't technically release until October 15, but starting today (October 7), you can get your hands on ten hours of unrestricted gameplay with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

What Time Does NHL 22's Free Trial Start On EA Play?

It's believed that the EA Play trial will begin at 11am EST / 4pm BST on Wednesday, October 7. It will be a 10-hour trial, and as far as we know, players will be able to try the full game with no locked access whatsoever.

How To Pre-Install The NHL 22 Trial With EA Play

There's no official way to pre-install NHL 22 with EA Play or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, but if you've already pre-ordered the game, you should have it ready to go on your system already. If you haven't pre-ordered it, you can instead use the official Xbox mobile app and hit 'Download to Console' in order to get it ready ahead of time.

Keep in mind that if you do this, there are two different versions of NHL 22 - one is for Xbox One, and the other is for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Make sure you find the correct download page for your chosen version.

How To Find The NHL 22 Free Trial On Xbox

  1. Go to the Microsoft Store app on your Xbox
  2. Search for 'NHL 22'
  3. Find the standard version for your console and select it (eg. NHL 22 for Xbox One)
  4. Slightly down the page, you should see an option for 'Free Trial'
  5. Select this, and your download should begin
