The Xbox release time for Black Myth: Wukong is set as 3am BST on August 20th.

This also translates to 7pm / 10pm PDT on August 19th, so some people should be able to start playing on the 19th.

Black Myth: Wukong Preload Details For Xbox Series X|S

The preload has now begun for Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox Series X|S, and it's weighing in at around 109.11 GB. In other words, if you've already pre-ordered the game, you can start downloading it on Xbox right now.

However, some are finding that their console is asking them to free up over 200GB of space at the time of writing, suggesting the preload is a little bugged. It might be worth waiting another 24 hours-or-so if you want to avoid this.

We should also note that you can preload the game on Xbox without even needing to pre-order it first. To do this, download the Xbox mobile app, link your console to it, and then search for the game and hit the install button. Simple!

Is Black Myth: Wukong On Xbox Game Pass?

What's The Big Deal About This Game?

Black Myth: Wukong had a lot of hype leading up to its release last year, and it ended up delivering on that hype in the eyes of many players - racking up an impressive 81 Metacritic rating (for PC) and winning a whole bunch of awards.

The PS5 version struggled a bit because of technical issues (something the Xbox Series S version in particular could be plagued with as well), but there's seemingly still a lot to like about this ambitious RPG from developer Game Science.

For what it's worth, reviews for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S versions of Black Myth: Wukong have yet to arrive, and the embargo for them hasn't been publicly revealed. The video preview you see above is from Summer Game Fest in 2024, and was based on the PC version of the game.
