Topic: Games w/ Gold Help

Hey, noob here. I wanna download Sonic Generations through Gold (which I have as part of Game Pass), but it won't let me download on either console or the site itself. Any ideas?

Gold and Game Pass are two.seperate things.

Gamepass is a Netflix like system for Xbox Games. You can play select games on both PC and Xbox One while subbed

Gold is there online service which allows you to play online games and also gets you a couple of free games a month that you get to keep.

If you paid for Game Pass you will have access to the games on the Game Pass list only

If you paid for Gold you only get the free games that are offered through Games with Gold Only.

Since you said you have Gamepass you will need to pay a separate fee for Gold then you will be able to download the Games with Gold.

@Tasuki I do have Game Pass Ultimate, though. It expires in June and everything...

The Xbox 360 games require you to have a valid payment card (or Paypal I think) logged to your account to allow you to download them. I know they are 'free' but for some reason, you need to 'purchase' them for 0.00 and unless you have a method for payment, they don't allow you to 'purchase' the free games.

I have Paypal registered to my account and use the website to add the free games to my account. With the 360 games, it still says 'purchase' and a window will come up saying price 0.00, purchase with [card/paypal] details. Afterwards, its says thanks for your purchase.

I know in the past, others have had issues with getting the 360 games without having any 'payment' options registered. If you haven't got any payment method registered, I would suggest registering and then try and see if that helps. I think the way they must do it is by 'selling' you the game - as you do own the 360 games regardless of whether you maintain your Gold subscription - for 0.00 and you 'purchase' them as you would any other game. Of course, if the price is 0.00, you don't ever get charged anything but for them to 'sell' you the game for free, it seems you need to have a method of paying them registered to be able to buy it for free...

You have a few days left to register your payment details before the end of the month if you want Sonic...

I had the same problem with Sonic when trying to download from the website. I managed to get it to work on my X1X by going to the store. Hope this helps.

That's right!!!
I had the same problem until a friend told me that the reason why 360 games need a payment method is because we are "buying" 360 games for 0.00 but we are only getting a license to play XB1 games while subscribed to Gold (or Gamepass Ultimate).

Which is true, because we accidentally let our Gold expire for a couple months last year and none of our XB1 games with gold would work, but we had no problem continuing to play the 360 games we got with gold.
